| Lord Karsus02-11-08, 06:39 AM | -The finished, final product is still a long, long way off, but I've been doing a little fooling around with Adobe Acrobat, and, to keep everyone's interest piqued, here are two teasers: The Eilistraeean Darksong Knight PrC (http://www.angelfire.com/rpg2/dagnirion/Darksong_Knight.pdf) Elven Magic (http://www.angelfire.com/rpg2/dagnirion//Elven_Magic.pdf) :) |
| Alediran02-11-08, 07:31 AM | Feels to good to se my own article about elven magic on a scroll-like background. |
| MarkusTay6302-11-08, 07:47 AM | Very, VERY pretty. :D |
| Kenzuki02-11-08, 05:57 PM | Very professional.:) |
| MarkusTay6302-12-08, 12:56 AM | Yup, what proggie you using for that? Thats definately ass-kickin'. |
| Lord Karsus02-12-08, 01:10 AM | Yup, what proggie you using for that? -Adobe Acrobat Professional 6 for the PDF, MS Word for the text, and MS Excel for the class progression chart. I realize I need to edit the Darksong Knight a little. The class progression chart is a little messed uparound the edges. |
| MarkusTay6302-12-08, 01:26 AM | Hmmmm... I see I can get AAP 8 for $149 on the internet... I'll have to see if my 'computer guy' can get me a better deal. :D Maybe I can try and find a trial version I can hack. :P Those pages are so pretty I just gotta have it. |

PDF Builder, I think it's called. Mind you, it's fairly basic, but... |
| Jiggawha02-12-08, 08:01 AM | I liked the appearance of the Candlekeep compendium, background is lighter, font is more clear, paragraphs are justified and a bit wider :twocents: |
| MarkusTay6302-12-08, 04:08 PM | I got news for you - there probably wonn't BE any more CK Compendiums. Maybe one last issue, and then thats it. :( |
| Alediran02-12-08, 06:22 PM | Why is that? Because 4th edition? |
| Iakhovas02-12-08, 08:26 PM | I think it's a little premature to be predicting the Compendium's demise Mark. |
| Bullet0632002-12-08, 09:48 PM | I got news for you - there probably wonn't BE any more CK Compendiums. Maybe one last issue, and then thats it. :( Noooooooooo!!!!! Not bad work sofar LK and sofar 4E is ruining the realms |
| 18DELTA02-13-08, 01:00 AM | I got news for you - there probably wonn't BE any more CK Compendiums. Maybe one last issue, and then thats it. :( -What you talking about Markus? :( 18DELTA:confused: |
| Rinonalyrna Fathomlin02-13-08, 07:40 PM | Those sample pages look really great--as Kenzuki said, professional! |
| Penknight02-13-08, 07:48 PM | Great job my friend, as always. :) |
| Markustay02-14-08, 12:43 AM | Not to Hijack LK's thread (or excellent job). I think it's a little premature to be predicting the Compendium's demise Mark.I don't know... it seems to be dead in the water ATM... but I certainly hope it continues on for another 100 issues, at least. :D Lord knows folks will be looking for an island in the coming 4e storm. ;) |
| Spirithawkfellow02-14-08, 01:31 AM | HI Karsus, I love what you have there, excellent and most professional. But you might want to pick up Adobe Indesign or quark, it would make your life a whole lot easier. I'm a graphic designer, and work with Indesign. It would be much quicker with layout and design. But with what you got well done. And by chance if you need the program let me know I had to buy if for my design class so I have it. Take care Spirit |
| Old Sage02-14-08, 07:03 PM | Not to Hijack LK's thread (or excellent job). I don't know... it seems to be dead in the water ATM... but I certainly hope it continues on for another 100 issues, at least. :DI'm inclined to agree with Brian on this, Markus. The Compendium has experienced several periods of "difficult times" before. For one reason or another, production slows, submissions drop, and contributors look to focus their attentions elsewhere [like myself for example]. This is simply another of those times. It will pick up again eventually. Don't, and I say this to all fans of the Candlekeep Compendium, fear for its demise. It has a small but dedicated core of editors and contributors. And we've all worked for far too long on this thing to just let it fall away into the dark! :D |
| Markustay02-15-08, 09:34 AM | Okay, sorry about all of that. I was very upset when talk of this being the last issue was brought up - aside from my very recent status as a contributor, I am a LONG TIME FAN of he compendium. As I said in my earlier post, in the rough times ahead, people will be looking for whatever 3e FR material they can find, and the potential for the CkC to become even better and more popular is there. And if my rather rude announcement has prompted certain people to get off their duffs and get back to work on it (myself included)... so much the better. ;) |
| Lord Karsus02-15-08, 09:46 AM | -I'm still waiting for something from Alaundo...I have like seven pages of work, not including possible maps or anything. |
| Markustay02-15-08, 09:50 AM | I have no idea myself what is going on with that a this point. :( I just can't wait until I get home tonight so I can complete something... ANYTHING... just to get the ball rolling again. The last few days without the sourcebooks has given me a fresh perspective, so maybe taking a week off was for the best. ;) |
| Alediran02-15-08, 10:36 AM | Think I'll begin to take the FR books I have in PDF and help the Elven Netbook again with an article. I also want to give The Realms Vault the true start, I want to have Realmslore discussions there since it's almost impossible in these boards without being drowned in 4th edition things. |
| Markustay02-15-08, 10:41 AM | True that. |
| Lord Karsus02-15-08, 10:47 AM | Think I'll begin to take the FR books I have in PDF and help the Elven Netbook again with an article. -Shouldn't you have been doing that all the while? ;) :P |
| Alediran02-15-08, 10:53 AM | I've been dealing with many things since november, my girlfriend moved to live with me (which reduce the total free time dedicated to my hobbies), working in a job that some days I don't know the exit hour (one day I worked 13 hours straight thanks to a Database that was half destroyed) |
| Lord Karsus02-15-08, 10:59 AM | -Elves of Faerūn should be the most important thing in your life! Forget your girlfriend! Forget work! Elves! :D :P |
| Alediran02-15-08, 11:03 AM | Belive me, if I could, I would be doing the Elven Netbook, playing games and DMing/Playing RPGs every day. I have too many campaign ideas just for FR every day and I feel I'll not be able to use them. At this moment for example I'm reading the Astral Realms book for Mage: the Awakening and it's simply awesome, and I've collected enough ideas for a 3 years campaign based around Astral Travel in that game. |
| XHereticX02-15-08, 09:00 PM | -Elves of Faerūn should be the most important thing in your life! Forget your girlfriend! Forget work! Elves! :D :P Not everyone has your kind of luxuries. And don't you have to be studying for those law exams, eh Karsus???:P Anyway, looks cool, and extremely professional. |
| Lord Karsus02-16-08, 06:53 AM | Not everyone has your kind of luxuries. And don't you have to be studying for those law exams, eh Karsus???:P -There is no life. There is only D&D. |
| ziplock00102-16-08, 10:04 AM | -You can download freeware PDF-making programs from the internet, you know. PDF Builder, I think it's called. Mind you, it's fairly basic, but... I've used PDF reDirect & the PDF reDirect Pro versions for several years now. The Pro version costs only $20.00 and has numerous features. Here's the url for kicks & giggles: http://www.exp-systems.com/ |
