bobsan 06-26-03, 12:00 PM	Question... I was wondering if there is any good source of elvish words that people use for the Realms. I've taken to using a few things from LotR and such, but I was hoping someone out there has a site with FR Elvish words.

Faraer 06-27-03, 06:48 AM	Sean Reynolds's elven lexicon in Dragon #279 is Greyhawk Lite elven, not Realms elven, which (to the extent that it exists) is scattered between many sourcebooks (especially Cormanthyr) and novels and Steven Schend's unpublished notes.

The article covers the history of the language, the epsruar font, and the various elven dialects. This site also has an Elven Name Generator (http://myth-drannor.net/DlabraddathNet/z-Cormanthyr/Name%20generator.htm) taken from a Dragon magazine, which will give you a large number of official Realms elven words. There are no official lexicons or dictionaries for Realms Elvish. The ones available on the net are all based on Tolkien languages with a smattering of phrases and terms taken from Realms sources, as well as ones created by the contributors. The best of these seems to be The Grey Company ~ languages (http://www.grey-company.org) Elaine Cunningham's site has an excellent list of Links for Elven Languages (http://www.elainecunningham.com/Elfish%20Language.htm) but these are also mainly Tolkien. VengefulGazeofGod 06-27-03, 04:32 PM	I believe the Dungeons and Dragons game has is spelled 'elven' not elvish, and dwarven not dwarvish. Try to remember that this is not LotR, and Tolkian want the way of the doo-doo. Say it right. :cool:
Druxus Rhym 07-08-03, 09:30 PM	Actully in the forgotten realms book it has the elven alphabet it's Epursur (or something like that) look in the "life of faerun" chapter it's some where in there look around and you'll find it
kiwidoc 07-09-03, 02:40 AM	The alphabet is Espruar, but that is the name of the runes and not the language :)
