Hello.
I am wondering if the Energy Substitution feat can be used in conjunction with Spellfire. I know that of the damage done by spellfire, 50% is fire and 50% is raw magic, but could you use the Substitution feat to make it 50% acid and 50% magic? Or cold? Or Sonic?

I am playing a Cleric/Sorcerer that is hopefully going to venture forth into the Mystic Theurge class. (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rs/20030402a)
Anyway I have chosen spellfire wielder as my starting feat. My character is a halfling that follows Brandobaris and is a "priest" in the church of misadventure. He has also an incredible amount of raw magic in his background (hence the spellfire feat and sorcerer class). I hope to make him able to be extremely versitile in the damage that he dishes out. Can anyone help me? Is this modification to spellfire doable, or is it GM's call?

Thanks....
OneChance.

As i understand it, no, spellfire can't be combined with energy substitution. Spellfire is a supernatural or spell-like ability, isn't it? Energy sub is strictly to modify spells with a particular energy descriptor. If you absolutely must have this ability, consider making it a high-level feat, requiring at least two levels of the spellfire weilder prestige class, and energy substitution feat, and cost more than regular spellfire. Even with all that, it may be too powerful, as you could easily use spellfire to cause unblockable damage. Maybe some sort of limited use per day, like once per day, take the feat again for additional uses?

Vix Damnul is right. Energy Substitution can only modify a spell and spellfire is a supernatural ability.

You have a valid idea though.... search around in various materials. I have seen Metamagic based feats for Spell like and supernatual abilities.
