English abreviations [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-23-04, 04:34 PM Hello all, I am brazilian and as many other foreign guys english is not my first language and some abreviations that you use in the post are really hard to understand.

Because of this I am starting a post to clarify what this abreviations mean.

IMO - In my opinion
HIMO - Humbling in my opion
BTW - By the way
IC - In characther
OOC - Out of character

This are one that I remenber the meaning now, but there a lot ones that I don´t know the meaning, but I can´t remenber they now.

If there is a error in the example above correct me please, I may had the wrong idea of what this abreviations mean. And post all the abrevition that you know and use on this board, this will make my and the other foreging guys life easier.

P.S.: BigSis I think you can make a similar post, but one that stick, because it is really hard to us, foreign ones, to understand some abreviations that you, people that speak english, use.

05-23-04, 04:51 PM For standard internet (web/Usenet/email) abbreviations, a google.com search for "internet abbreviations imho" (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&q=internet+abbreviations+imho&btnG=Search) will find many such lists.

I think it would be an excellent idea to collect a list of common, non game related abbreviations, but you should do this in the The Rec Room (Off Topic Forum) (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=405) It's the right place for topics that aren't about the game. It is also a forum used by posters from the entire WotCOMmunity site, so you are likely to get a lot more suggestions there.
