Hi there everybody :)

Some people luv to play epic games, some loves to play in the past. In this thread, I will write 2E epic level spells (which I try to convert 3E : ) which could be foun in magazins or Arcane age books. To begin with, I wanted to write a spell which everybody would loves but unknown except maniacs(like myself :D ) Here she is, the spell of a madman which tried to become a god himself.

Karsus's Avatar
(Invocation/Evocation, Enchantment/Charm, Alteration)
Level: 12
Range: Unlimited
Duration: Limited
Area of affect: One god
Field: Mantalism
Components:v,s,m
Casting Time: 6 hours
Saving Throw: Special

Karsus spent well over a decade researching this spell. It was so complex that he had to use a ston-filled gizzard of a gold dragon and a part of the epidermis of the pituitary gland of the tarrasque just to enchant one of the material component's of the spell.

This spell allowed the caster to become a god of his choosing, replacing the current god with himself the moment the spell was completed. Wheter the gods recieved a saving throw, aware of its casting, and the caster dies when the spell duration is over.

The notes regarding the spells essence were nowhere to be found. It's belived Mystra, the reincarnated form of Mystryl, snatched the spell informations from the ruins of Karsus's enclave and sent it on an eternel journey to the ends of the universe. . .

Encyclopedia Arcana, pg 10

Please post me about your thoughts about this post. And I will post a new epic level spell at least once in a week :) (And if you have some epic spells please post them-kedi :) )

Nice :)

though you should note somewere that this spell can not be cast after the fall of mystryl since after this spells of this power cannot be cast via and weave and anyone attempting it would probably be destroyed by dozens of gods who dont want to be possesed

Also i dout there was ever any peice of paper describing the spell
Karsus was utterly insane and his mind was a jumbled mess, he just kinda plucked stuff out of his mind in a way other people could hardly under stand

However, there are such campaigns which played in past which such powerful spells allowed :) Although, I wrote this spell cuz people wanted to learn which spell did karsus used to killed mystra. This is the most powerful spell ever crafted and every FR fans should know this spell :D

Not true, Karsus was CN, power-hungry and careless, but he was not insane like Halaster. He wasn't a rambling madman - picture him as a sort of Netherese Thomas Edison.

As for the spell... what do you think Karsus would say if he knew that these days' archwizards require the same effort just to cast a maximized meteor swarm? :behold:

Think about, Karsus was the greatest arcanist in past, and he could cast only 12 level spells. However, Ssaz Tam has an 17 level spell slot(which he uses to cast a quickened maximized energy drain :) )

Duration: Unlimited

This is the old version of the spell, but it got it's errata already in 2e in Powers&Pantheons. The duration went from "unlimited" to "limited".

And 3e also added the death of the caster at the end of the duration.

And the spell description in P&P states that the informations about this spell is lost... that is why all (5 of 9) the data are listed as unknown... the only known about it is level, school, field, and AOE...

Yes, but in 3e LoD picks this P&P version and even adds the death of the caster after the end of the duration.
