What would be the cost of maps of the realms?

Like a map of Sundabar, as detailed as the one on this site.

Or one as detailed such as the city map of Silverymoon, in the Silver Marches supplement.

How about the Silver Marches map in the same supplement or a Realms Atlas?

Looking for anything cannon to back up map cost for my forgotten realms campaign. Consisting of a party of adventurer/explorers.

Short answer, from a few gp, up to whatever you like....

Long answer:

I would say that depends on a lot of factors.

1) How detailed?
2) Who made it?
2a) Is this person reputable? In the employ of a contry's leader etc
3) Where is it of, obviously mythical places that people don't think exist will lower the price, inaccessable places will raise it etc etc.

Finnaly, before you even set a price, how easy should this map be to get hold of? Are there lots of copies, or just one, closely guarded one?

You see, there is almost infinite variation in this, so it comes down to, how much do you, as the DM want it to cost?

I realize there are alot of variables in map prices, that why I listed a few particular maps. However, I have no idea if maps should be 10 gp or maybe 500 gp for large realms map, say everything west of the anauroch and south to amn's borders. Id like to make some maps such as this expensive and hard to obtain. Ive never seen any map costs in any supplement I own though so I have no idea where I should start with prices.

Maps Costs, for a single map scroll
city maps should be cheaper than overland maps

poor map(50)- A basic city map or map of the countryside with most locations not marked
average map(100)-your basic map or decent city map
good map(200)-a detailed map, similiar to most FR region maps.
excellent map(300)- locations on map are uncommon or rare, and is accurate and detailed

The other factor would be rarity of the map
Common, Uncommon (costx2), Rare(costx3), Unique(costx4)

A rough draft but totally unsupported by anything Ive seen in a supplement what Im looking for is map price examples from real sources, be it Realms supplements first and if that not available then published modules. From that I can tweak the prices as I see fit

-Well, the Handbook of Mapping for Better Mapping Etiquette is 35 gp. Not sure if that's helpful or not, but I was skimming Aurora's Whole Realms Catalogue, and that was all I could find on maps.
