Well, while I had only time for q short quick reading, here are 3 things which I noticed and which do disturb me:

1. Bane is named as a god of strife (hoped this error would finally die)

2. Orcus is listed as a being no god (despite F&P and UA telling his divine status)

3. Cyric is portrayed as still being insane (he was cured long ago)

1) Good Grief are they ever going to fix that error!

2) Nightfall is going to have a fit when he reads that

BTW, the Initiate of Cyric granted power does just coincidentally nullify the Initiate of Bane granted power :P

ARrrrghhh

1) Can someone just make a ruling on this already! Just tell us he woke up one day and decided to add it to his portfolio (it looks so nice for the job interviews).

3) Cyric insane?!? What again or someone fail to notice that he was cured of this...like 9 years ago?? When will this madness end! Just kill the fool off already! :behold:

Crikey, if you picked up on these errors after a mere glance then how the hell did they get past the proof-readers??

I'm always noticing things like that (spelling mistakes, lack of capital letters, odd punctuation) and I think "if the people you're paying to proofread can't do it, send the books to me! I'll do it for free!"

Funny thing is that i've actually been looking into entering the wonderful world of proof-reading, I have even applied to a few places.

So, Wizo's how about giving me a shot? ;)

the portfolio of Strife is causing alot of itself.

Oh lovely more fire for the great Orcus debate.. ugh.

Cyric as insane, damnit man let this God get back on track already!

Well lets hope the errors are few and far between but that isnt a great start.

Still very eager to see this book.

Neeeeeeeeeeeever!!! :tantrum:
(You see, I am still at odds with the Wizards about this whole WotSQ affair and until that is finally solved ... not me being at odds but the Silence of Lolth and all that comes with it ... I'll keep a low profile with the Revenancer and all.
(Yet, IMHO, the PGtF is correct.)

Insane, shmacane. Just kill the loser off already. At least when he's insane he's mildly interesting...I can't stand Cyric, he's such a bland, flavorless, poorly rendered goob of a deity.

What's your issue with WotSQ? Don't you like to see the mean priestesses getting their spanking back?

Though a bit off-topic:
Bocklin ... what is a touch annoying is that despite the Menzo - Box (which showed us that we have a wide range of personalities even among the drow priestesses), the usual female vs. male, female priestesses are cruel down to the core and that's all of them comes back at us again.
(And I don't want to begin with rules and all ...)

Apart from this - and I don't know what comes our way next year - I don't like to be put in such a place first and foremost. As in: my drow campaigns will not include anything of the WotSQ since I a) do not know what will happen and b) do not know how long the whole things will be going on. If I play a group once a week and include the Silence, all Lolthites would go without spells for some 100 sessions or more. As in ... if a group plans to attack a city or stronghold, they wouldn't be confronted with any divine spells apart from those stored in items etc..
But I have no clue how long the Silence lasts in FR "real time". Two months, five, a year? You could imagine the faces of the players standing in front of the Temple, the Lolthites' last stand and suddenly hear an eery chant proclaiming the return of the Spider Queen ...

As in: six novels make great reading and I enjoyed I & II so far, but 3 years to wait for a conclusion ...

(Since I was off topic, I now feel that I should get back to the them of the thread)

Errors in the PGtF:

1) The captions for some of the Races pictures are not correct.

Page 10: Picture of human ethnic groups

"Illuskan" is written under a Red Wizard and "Mulan" under a clearly northernly lady holding an axe. These two seems to have beem swaped.

Page ??: Picture of the Dwarfs

The text of "Duergar" and "Gold Dwarf" have been swaped as well.

It is not really credible to see a bald, grey skinned dwarf with grey eyes and see "Gold Dwarf" written directly under... :-(

2) For the racial Feats, it seems that some Halfling-regions have been dropped altogether from the summarizing table.

They appear in the full text describing the halfling-regions (e.g. "Halflings in Amn") and they are also listed in the pre-requisites for the regional feats themselves but not in the summarizing table.

Quite annoying to have to read through all regional feats to see which one your "Amnian Halfling" or your "Northern Halfling" can take... and of course you do not know which additional starting equipment they could have or additional languages they could learn...

You know what: these errors do not affect me anymore.

I am therefore declaring that I will consider everything in the PGtoF as good as cash. No arguments from my players. Zip. Nada.

This is now gospel and I am not looking back.

My reasoning is if some of these things were errors, they would have been darned fixed by now... including the shade's +5 ECL. I don't care. If a player wants to be special and be a shade, he'll bloody pay the +5 ECL.

Sorry for the rant. Had to clear my mind on this subject once and for all; reset with a giant em pulse; shoot the lame horse and cross the rest of the desert on foot.

(sorry, I saw Hidalgo tonight... :P)

Rich Baker said in the "Ask Richard Baker" thread that he thinks the Shade's LA is still supposed to be +4.

I noted some other (minor) errors immediately. The human races are labled oddly, so are the dwarves.

That Illuskan human sure looks like a Mulan, and a Red Wizard of Thay at that... And that gray dwarf?

I'm confused is Orcus a god? Just an honest question I know little of him. I also became nauscious at the Dwarven misrepresentation. The human managed to fly under the radar the first time around, but after looking again I agree that they have been switched (does anyone else think that the Red Wizard in the picture has something "off" about him?).

He was until this book came out. :) At least in FR..... See Nightfall's thread over on the deities section of the boards. :)

And to keep this on topic, the timeline on page 170, three of the four Uktar's are missing the R at the end. :)

where does it talk about him in the PGtF?

It doesn't specificially but it says there are no deities in the Abyss. So that overwrites the last 2 3/3.5 books that list him as a deity. He has the power of a deity, but he isn't a deity. But again we discussed this over in the Orcus thread at length and the others probably don't want this thread to be turned into another Orcus thread. :)

at least all errors are really minor in scope... nothing big, just mildly irritating, in my opinion its still a decent book given its shortcomings and editorial mistakes :) Pretty pictures too, well some of them hehe... Over all Decent job Wizards :d
