Evereska [Archive] - Wizards Community

I'm currently working with my group to stat out the realm of Evereska and am looking for any ideas or information that you all might be able to offer

Now as far as I can tell, the realm was started in the -8000's by refugees from the elven states that Aryvaandar picked on. The next information is that over the next thousand years or so, colonists from Evereska settled the realms of Siluvanede, Sharrven, and Earlann (in that order), and then participated in the "Seven Citadel's War" on the side of the alliance. After that, though, they basically fall off the map for next, oh, 6000 years or so. That is an awfully long time, even for an elf!

My interest then would be, what else was Evereska doing during it's long long long long long history up till the phaerimm invasion? How did they respond to Netheril? The rise of Hellgate Keep? The fall of Myth Drannor?

As of recently we have a map of the Vale, but did they maintain settlements outside the Vale? The map in Lost Empires of Faerun ~650 or something seems to indicate that Evereska maintains a knot of territory roughly the size of Cormyr, but what did they do with it? Are there old elven settlements dotting the Greycloak hills and the valley of the Winding Water? If elves didn't settle this area, did humans? What flavor would you give this area for modern adventuring?

As you can see, I've an awful lot of questions. Canon material is great, but custom material is great too!

11-03-06, 08:27 PM -We know from the Return of the Archwizards Trilogy that the Evereskan Elves kept partrols around the Greycloak Mountains, to protect their hidden city. There are also Evereskan Tomb Guardians dotted around the area as well. As for these:

How did they respond to Netheril?
-As a hidden Elven Realm, I am sure they layed low.

The rise of Hellgate Keep?
-As a hidden Elven Realm, I am sure they layed low.

The fall of Myth Drannor?
-Many Elves fled to Evereska after the fall of Myth Drannor. They took in refugees, to be sure. I am sure they also gave some troops to the effort as well.

11-03-06, 09:57 PM Evereska has basically always considered the grey Hills to be the outskirts of its area of influence. to its west and south it had other elven realms that it dealt with peacefully (and peacfully doen't lead to a lot of history really when the other realms have fallen)It also clearly ahd dealing with the elven realms of Rhystall Wood and Cormathor both before the rise and after the fall of netheril. One thing to note here is that netehril never really tried to expand into elven lands - they took the area between the two great sets of elven woods as their area - even thouogh in their day it was forest land as well. This at least suggests that for all their vaunted ppower they had a health respect ofr elven high magic and elven mages and magical capabilities and basically made not efforts to overrun. A few tests were made of elven defenses in Cormanthor following the theft of the netehr scrolls as the trail led that way but after being basically shut down cold they dropped the quest - again an indication taht they really didn't want to confront the elven realms and so basically had no dealings with them for their history so no tales of combats etc have come down to us today. By the same token the elven realms appear to have had their own internal problems and have been content to let "idiot human mages" do as they liked in their areas as long as it didn't spill over into elven realms. so:

-As a hidden Elven Realm, I am sure they layed low. I think they didn't so much lay low as such but rather were capable of demonstrating equal or superior skill every tiime a netherese mage started playing at the borders they had set for themselves and so the netherese left them strictly alone.

-As a hidden Elven Realm, I am sure they layed low.
Given that it was not one of their fortresses ( I belive it was earlean's or sulvanede's) they expected their fellow elves to keep control and when things very suddenly went very very bad they were not really in a position ot do anything except maybe help pick up the pieces and set some boundaries to help contain the problems after trhe fact.

Given that Myth Drannor was attempting to mix with the other races and Evereska's policy has basic ally been to avoid them I think this is really the point at which it truely became a hidden elven realm. I too think that some evereskans went to help the elves of Myth Drannor and we know they took in elven refugees. I do thinki that they (as a country) probably didn;t lift a finger to help as they felt the elves of Myth Drannor went in exactly the wrong direction and in the end got what they asked for. Also remember that by the fall Myth Drannor was no longer the elven city of interracial brotherly love that it had started out as - the evereskans may well have seen this as evidence of its own self destruction and not been willing to rescue it.
