One of the at-game-creation guidlines that we are using is only the SRD, FRCS, and Player's Guide are allowed for PC creation. In order to provide some interesting options, however, the DM wants to create tangible benefits for those PCs who decide to create, or support, a faction. This might lead to a series of "faction substitution levels" if either of us get ambitious. Anyone out there have some ideas for factions that we could be using? To give some foundation, the game is set almost a decade after the phaerimm attack on Evereska. The vale fortress itself has withdrawn into extreme isolation, for reasons unknown to us, but most likely having to do with repercussions of the attack. In the absence of a strong elven presence in the lands beneath the Graycloaks, many of the mercenary and adventuring companies that were dispatched with the armies of the Lord's Alliance and the Argent Legion have elected to remain, setting up camps and the beginnings of townships near the Winding Water and in the foothills. Since there has been no elven response to this incursion as yet, humanity has begun to trickle in in a steadily increasing flow, taming the wilderness of the Winding vale and the lands surrounding the Hill of Lost Souls. The game begins in the largest of these townships, a crossroads of opportunity and profit on a neglected frontier. Some of the factions we have started in the area are: The Harpers of Twilight Hall The Moonstars The Shadow Thieves of Amn The Zhentarim of Llorkh The Zhentarim of Darkhold The Cult of the Dragon (based out of the Well of Dragons) The Guardians of the Vale The Guardians of the Weave The Crusade of Miritar (The Return) The Shadovar What else could we integrate here? Any ideas on the game in general? Any opinions, ideas, etc are welcome. |

Darkhold seems to have more pressing matters than that town. I can envision a Zhent presence under orders of Manshoon and/or Fzoul though due to the tombs and potential magic discoveries. Shadow Thieves A bit far in my opinion. And with the current troubles of Amn, I cannot envision them stretching that far north. Shadovar They would probably be the type to be skulking around and also have some mageling of at least middling power to regurarly scry and generally keeping an eye on things in addition to any expedition they mount. The Arcane Brotherhood may have agents in or around the area, again attracted by the magic rich tombs. To safeguard and monitor things, agents of Alustriel can be inserted (or perhaps the Harpers could serve in their stead). The last one to come to mind are the Eldreth Veluuthra trying minimize and eradicate all human presence. |
