Evermeet Circles? [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-30-03, 05:00 PM I have seen references to circles and a unique magic in Evermeet.

Could someone inform me as to what the "Circles" are in Evermeet and what purpose they serve with regard to the "unique magic" of the Isle?

Also, in the novel where these things are mentioned, what sort of sacrifice was made by Queen Almaruil?

I want to incorporate all of this into my current campaign, since it fits quite perfectly, but I want to stay true to the literature.

07-30-03, 05:18 PM The Circles of Evermeet were groups of Elven High Magi who would cast High magic spells for the defense of the Green Island. Their actions would be dictated by a Center, who would (presumably) wield the combined might of the High magi.

The magic's unique since High magic can only be cast on Evermeet itself.

I'm not sure how this translate to 3.0/3.5 game terms, but I suspect this would be Circle Magic (see FRCS.) However, since there is now an Elven High Mage PrC, this could change as well---the High Mage seems a lot more individual for a Circle.

Basically, today Evermeet is a place with several epic spellcasters...(though this could be in doubt, as several of these spellcasters may have possibly..well, look below.)

As I was saying, it's almost certain that the high mages of Evermeet are reduced in number thanks to the attacks on the Towers of the Sun and Moon.

Queen Amlaruil's sacrifice was that she returned from Arvandor and was again separated from her soulmate Zoar, assassinated 40-odd years ago. She returned for the good of her people. It's not easy giving up one's version of paradise, all for the sake of duty.

For reference, I suggest you flip through 2E's The Elves of Evermeet FR Campaign supplement. Full of goodies. :)

07-30-03, 06:20 PM High Magic can be also cast every where there are elves and enough to form a circle. Not just on Evermeet, Evereska has/had some High Mages, and there are most likely some among the other elven subraces.

:). To further expand on this, I bet also that the new Star Elves have some High Mages. If you use the Star Elves in your games that is. :)
