| Bomba05-05-04, 02:58 PM | i dont know if this was ever posted before but has anyone had to deal with thier party not stopping Irea? i think there is a fairly good chance that the party i am DMing miht not do it they are all fairly powerful but they have started to splinter a little bit. one has turned evil another is on the way i think they might not be able to do it. i am curious if anyone has ever played out the consiquences of failing in the quest. how did it play out? was it fun? |
| Purple Dragon Knight05-05-04, 04:19 PM | The module describes in details what happens if the PCs don't stop her. She basically destroys 3 dales and she is stopped later by an Harper-made alliance of Dalesmen. |
| Chronomage05-05-04, 08:22 PM | Can you imagine that? Combining the Events of a Failed CotSQ with the Return of Shade? Sux to be you, Faerun! |
| ZeroEffect05-05-04, 09:16 PM | I'm currently playing in a campaign that is the direct result of our former party failing in City of the Spider Queen. We've jumped ahead 200 years or so and are playing in a Realms that has fallen under (almost) absolute control by "Evil." |
| Bomba05-05-04, 09:42 PM | i know what its says in the book but i was wondering if anyone has accually played that senario out and how it went. like i said earlier there is a fairly good chance that that might happen in my game but at the same time i want to keep things fun and i'm afraid it will ruin things. it still might be cool though TPK right at the end would be great there would be so little time for a new group to advance enough to handle things. i'm reading the return of the archwizards books now and i plan on incorperating those events in my campaign as soon as my players are done with CotSQ. jumping ahead 200 years is a cool idea Zero that would take a lot of work to flesh out though i would like to hear how your world is laidout |
| ZeroEffect05-05-04, 10:17 PM | I wish I had a more interesting story. We simply lost interest in the Spider Queen campaign and stopped playing. The DM just assumed that we failed to deal with the rising threats in the Realms. I think the DM is using the 200 year jump to simply create everything by himself. I'm actually not sure why he's even using the Forgotten Realms for the campaign since he's using none of the existing books. He only uses the FR maps. We're in a city of his own creation in the Unapproachable East. He seems to have borrowed heavily from Warhammer (all of the NPCs and districts have German names). Here's the campaign website: http://www.greensquare.ca/~justin/isw/index.htm |

| Treskin05-06-04, 02:48 AM | My group has a very laxed attitude about accomplishing their mission. Basically they feel "Who cares, if we lose, Elminster will fix the Realms and we can come back as a new party. Then do something else Elminster will fix if we fail." Well, if they do fail CotSQ I've already been working on what's going to happen (and they just entered Castle Maerimydra). Basically I'm going to take creative liberty and break off from the "official" story line, though I see quite a few people do that. I'm going to explain Lolth's Silence as a desperate move on her part to bolster her power. In exchange for leaving her followers exposed to danger for such a long time - she was able to focus her power on creating "The Chosen of Lolth", this act will become known as the "Feign of Lolth". Additiionally, Lolth forged a secret alliance with Kiaransalee, with the promise of an unending army of undead (Irae). From here I am going to have Lolth's Chosen briefly working together to eliminate or drive of many of Faerun's goodly heros. Many of Mystra's Chosen, starting with poor Elminster, and working their way down from there. Of course, if they take El, not many parties would be a match against this band of Chosen - so I will have the Chosen of Lolth break up to rule over various parts of the Dalelands as the undead armies of Irae continue to grow and prepare to invade neighboring lands. This next chapter will obviously be Epic, and will involve the party attempting to kill the Chosen of Lolth one by one (or maybe 2 ;). With this I hope to finally make the party feel that their actions will direct the future of Faerun, without a net to catch them. Though, I probably will let El come back eventually, out of respect for Ed :) |
