| Dire Hamster01-04-07, 02:56 AM | Well, I never got around to buying Faiths & Pantheons and now I'm kicking myself because, as I'm sure many of you know, it's out-of-print and no longer available. :( I mean, I know it was 3.0 but other than the limited info about the deities that's in the Realms Campaign Setting book, it was the only thing out there (that I know of) that gave all the details on all the Realms deities. Has anybody heard anything about why this book went bye-bye? Perhaps, WOTC yanked this off the printing press because they are planning to work up a 3.5 version? Or maybe the book just didn't sell well? Or...? Any info to share? Well, I was just curious... Thanks! |
| Ateth_Istarlin01-04-07, 03:39 AM | I don't know why it's OOP, but I would like to see an undated 3.5E version (so long as they don't stat the gods again! - just give them a Deity Level (out of 20), and fill the rest of the book with details about the churches and how they interact with the Realms (and each other)).:D |
| The ShapeLess One01-04-07, 04:08 AM | I would like to see a F&P that has the deities that are not covered in the first 3.0 book. |
| Gemcaster01-04-07, 04:19 AM | You can find F&P if you look around and dont mind waiting or spending a lot of money or both. I ordered F&P off amazon 5 days before christmas alongside magic of faerun and they still havent arrived. |

A number of particular deities from previous editions were excluded. If you're looking for just lore on the gods, I'd recommend you track down copies of the 2e tomes:- Faiths & Avatars, Powers & Pantheons, and Demihuman Deities. Each provide more in-depth coverage of both human and demihuman pantheons active in the Realms. Additionally, I'd throw in Monster Mythology as well -- for it's selection of monstrous deities, some of which also weren't included in any 3e FR sources. |

| MarkusTay6301-04-07, 01:59 PM | I never bought F&P either, and I really haven't missed it. I have all the 2e sources mentioned, however, and that works fine for me. Unless your players are going to interact with the gods directly (and they shouldn't), then the 3.0 source is unneccessary. |
| kelcimer01-05-07, 04:14 PM | For staright info, I agree these volumes are more detailed. I'll second that. They are the accessories that keep on giving, because no matter where you are in the realms the gods stay the same. |
| Purple Dragon Knight01-05-07, 05:58 PM | I did the stupid thing to sell my F&A books last year... I must have had a mental breakdown or something... Yes, there hasn't been anything quite like them since. Faiths and Pantheons is really sad, if you ask me. Not only is the crunch disorganized over the entire book, but the god stats are too lengthy and useless, with next to no info on the churches. I would have thought them capable of expanding the FRCS paladin and monk orders within that tome, but no... that's been relegated to the convenient "that's for the DM's imagination" excuse. I agree that at full 3.5 remake of Faiths and Pantheon is in order, with more more more more and MORE info on the churches, clergies, orders, interactions with other priesthoods, etc. I would settle for some cut and paste from the F&A trilogy, if need be, as long as that info is salvaged and updated somehow... |
| DreamStalker01-05-07, 08:01 PM | The paladin and monk orders were expanded in the web enhancement free of charge actually. Periodically we discover new orders as well. I would also prefer a new Faiths of Faerun 3.5 sourcebook to be released. Use the newer Deities format, do not bother statting specific gods, statting specific avatars for deities that players are likely to interact with on a meaningful level is okay of course, use a lot of the old info from the F&A trilogy, add in new info, lore lore lore, a little bit of crunchy bits, voila! I somewhat want this to be actually two books. One for the Faerunian Pantheon and another for the other Pantheons. I can even see only doing this book for the Faerunian Pantheon and scattering the other Panthreons through appropriate sourcebooks or as Web Enhancements. |
| Dire Hamster01-06-07, 05:49 AM | Well, I never played DnD prior to v3.0 so I have no basis of comparison, but it sounds like these F&A books were really something! If they are as good as everyone says, then I agree that the info (or some of it anyhow) should be updated and transferred to the 3.5 version of Faiths & Pantheons, should they ever make one. |
| Jiggawha01-06-07, 09:30 AM | Faiths and Pantheons, completely unnecessary product, every old book completely outshines it, 3.5 version, never gonna happen |
