| Dargoth11-22-03, 08:08 PM | In the current ask Rich Baker thread. Rich dropped a hint about a future product " Finally, we've just started work on a project I'm personally excited about. It's a ways off yet, and the exact timing is still hazy. It's themed around the various fallen empires of Faerun. That's all I can say this far out, don't press me for more details." Now obviously Rich cant talk about it yet but what would you like to see in this Fallen Empires source book. My list 1) The Mines of Tethymar 2) maps of Netheril pre the fall and after the fall the post fall map would show where all the enclaves came down and other Netherese sites and whats living there among the ruins 3) The Imaskari empire: a map and whats going on in the Sea of Purple Dust (and whats going on with I3-5) |
| Herr Doktor11-22-03, 08:39 PM | I wonder if they plan on making this book a fluffy historical tome or if the a more proper title could be Fallen Empires and What's there now! A book of ruins and ancient magic treasures would be useful, they could definetly combine the two ideas I mentioned above. I guess that's what I'd want out of it, though ancient history is not my strong point. |

Netheril: Empire of Magic is one of the thirty-or-so PDFs available for free on WOTC's website. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/downloads |
| Gellion11-22-03, 11:04 PM | I think something on the creator races would be interesting.:) Like show where their empires used to be.:) |
| PhilCW11-23-03, 12:57 AM | Stuff I would like to see: -Variations of the pantheon (i.e. major religions worshipped in that area). -Cultural and technological heritage. -Unearthed secrets (Dungeon Delvers buffet) -More new variations on magic like circle magic, rune magic, etc. |
| tauster11-23-03, 05:34 AM | it should definitely contain the old realms of both elves (examples: earlean, myth glaurach, myth rhynn, aryvandaar, Shantel Othreier, syņrpiir, illefarn, orishaar, thearnytaar, eiellūr, miyeritar, keltormir, most importantly: the crown wars!, etc...) and dwarves (examples: their first appearance in yehimal, their first kingdom in the great cavern of bhaerynden and the war that lead to it“s fall, the empire of shanatar, the cloaker wars and the events around the creation of the wyrmskull-throne, the spider wars (against drow), the mindstalker wars (against illithids), the realms of orghrann, haunghdannar, ammarindar, delzoun(!!!), the history of the ironstar clan, the rebellion of the duegar against their illithid masters (app. -4000dr), the deepbear wars (agsainst quaggoth)... ). it should include: relations between their neighbors (political, cultural, economical (trade!), military) magical achievements (=possible treasure-hunting hooks for current adventures) old spells ... and these are only snippets from the history two races! then there“s the founding of calimshan, the human empire of shoon, the founding of halruaa after netherils fall, the ancient history of luiren, mayby some gnomish history (often overlooked!), etc.... stuff (and fluff!) enough for ten books! :) jm2c, tauster |
| Green Giant11-23-03, 11:57 PM | I would love to see some more info or updated info on Illefarn, Phalorm and the Kindom of Man. Personally I think all the lost empires mentioned in the FRCS sidebar p. 266-67 will be represented in some form or another. Although they may surprise us with a new hidden empire (perhaps a Ruathym/Viking empire). I would however like it if they had maps of the borders of the empires to see how far they extended. P.S. Just had a thought as to whether the empires found in Sea of Fallen Stars will deserve a mention. |
| gavagai11-24-03, 05:58 AM | I want to know more about Jhamdaath. It's supposed to be the ancestor nation of practically the whole eastern heartlands, and we know practically nothing about it. |
| Sirius_Black11-24-03, 10:20 AM | Originally posted by Green Giant Although they may surprise us with a new hidden empire (perhaps a Ruathym/Viking empire). I wonder if they might surprise us with a long lost empire thought vanished, but has now reappeared in current FR. Haven't seen something like that in quite some time.... |

| Lashan11-24-03, 06:55 PM | I really like the idea of this book, but fear that it won' quite be what I want it to. I would love to see the Mines of Tethyammer detailed some more!!! I would also like to see Vastar and the "Realm of Glittering Swords" detailed some, too. The ancient kingdome of Narfell and Rauth-whateveritis would be great, too! |
| Krash11-24-03, 10:06 PM | Green Giant wrote: "I would love to see some more info or updated info on Illefarn, Phalorm and the Kindom of Man." Are you after reamslore/history/dates on these places or are you after gaming material (i.e. an Arcane Age type write-up)? If its the former, I might be able to help you out. Drop me a line on: Krash@newave.net.au -- George Krashos |
| Green Giant11-25-03, 12:22 AM | Actually, I'm after the latter (Arcane Age material). I have enough of the former. Thanks for the offer though.:) |
| Cernunnos11-26-03, 06:50 PM | According to Rich Baker, its going to be "here and now" Realms. Like other suppliments, it'll go into history, but will be focused on the current realms. I'd imagine Anauroch and the Great Glacier get covered, since they cover Netheril (of course, Shade would be in there too). I'd love to see some info on Imaskar/Plains of Purple Dust. I'd love to see the return of the Glass Sea in I3-5 (just imagine, a magical battle so intense it turned a few hundred square miles of desert to glass). Even more interesting now with the Deep Imaskari. Would Myth Drannor/Cormathyr get covered? What about the Old Empires? |
