| Lancelot367906-09-04, 02:51 PM | I liked the thread on current character's, but isn't there one that just sticks with you from a campaign, one that you keep as your own? You know, the ones that you always remember. My all time favorite (last really lived character) was Olaf Gartone, Prince of the Firbolg People. Started off as a 2E character on an epic quest (not epic level mind you). Through the game the characters had a great deal of role play and growth. My favorite part about him was that there is very little to go on about Firbolg culture, so I was able to make it up. Figured that they were very Norse-Like, going off myths of the old norse giant men. Firbolgs, while giants, were never meant to be as tall as real giants. That with the little that they did explain made it intesting. It was a nice twist to make them monotheistic (evey though they probably have a panthion) and have them worship, Gartan the Strong, God of all Firbolgs. Was fun to tell the dwarf cleric in the team, "I'm sorry my little brother, but you are confused, there is only Gartan. He can not get you out of your thinking in these other gods, and is content with that aspect of you. Smaller brains can not hold only the one god.." and other circular-logic points that allowed him to insult(though not directly) and turn every diety into Gartan. Every morning it was the job of the worshipers of Gartan to say a prayer in the Firbish tounge and then throw the largest object that they could find (only once did that turn out to be the dwarf). At the same time we made up a game that was Soccer/American Football/Dodge ball played entirely with large rocks to represent the giants skill with throwing stones. In his questing he came to poses Kharagoras, the Sword of Jhem, a +6 Giant Two-Hander that added a +2 to a Firbolgs Strength and allowed for a critical on 19 or 20. He flew as gunner's mate on something called Leo's Wings, a magical flying craft that belonged to another player. Managed to get and get rid of mummy rot when a mage party member cut off a mummies hand that flew over and struck him in the face. Led a number of raiding parties that curried the favor of the king's only daughter and heir. But to marry her was the biggest quest. He had to present a worthy gift to the king, gain the favor of the noble firbolgs that ruled to build a castle in 3 months, and then fight a civil war to bring rebelious lords under his new rule. Ah. Every now and then I drop him as an NPC. Since Firbolgs live such a long time, he is not king yet. So, if you are ever in Southwest Faerun and see a man of some 11ft (3.8 meters for the rest) standing over a crowd with a sunny disposition and huge sword, introduce yourself. You will be greeted by, "Olaf Gartone, Prince of the Firbolg People, please to meet you." |
| guru789206-10-04, 01:17 AM | well my coolest char was an 5lvl gnome exprt, he was like the best char with an npc class. he once killed a gaurd ( a rather tough one) with a bottle of oil, caltrops and a lighter. he also burnt the last ship they had when he tried to make alchemists fire, oh and he was the only pirait with profession sailor... |
| Khalon06-12-04, 06:34 AM | My fav's: Ezekil Kamon - Male 1/2 elf Fighter/Wiz[invoker], your typical "Fire Mage". A long time ago he grew up (lower levels) in a homebrew world. After discovering a mystical gate to another world (FR), he was transfered over. Mainly questing for mighty spells and items all over Toril, in his ever ongoing serch for more power and control over the Weave. Sairon "The Raven" Arethyl - Male moon elf Rogue, a more assassin oriented rogue actually. Currently retired in an old mill house converted to a tavern/inn someplace east of baldur's gate. Vargu Vargtass - Male human Fighter/Barbarian, a wolf nomad. Originally from the world of Greyhawk. Ran through the Vale of The Mage adventure after transfering to FR through mystical means... Located mainly in western heartlands trying to locate a portal/dimension gate back to Greyhawk to claim his leadership of his tribe. Isirmak Whar'kûl - Male drow Fighter, renegade drow on search for his place in the vast world of the surface dwellers. Member of a company of adventurers called The Mithril. Mainly located in dalelands/Coromyr/Sembia. So, there you go. My most fun char's to play. :) |
| aravilar_holistacia06-12-04, 08:33 AM | My favorite character that I've had is Aravilar Holistacia. Go figure. ;) Aravilar Holistacia (CG Elf Wiz/Acm/Ehm) |
| Lancelot367906-12-04, 10:00 AM | Why Aravilar.... aravilar? |
| aravilar_holistacia06-12-04, 06:00 PM | Originally posted by Lancelot3679 Why Aravilar.... aravilar? Because I've had him in various forms since I started playing D&D, and I have so many versions of Aravilar it's not funny. There's the standard Wizard/Elven High Mage, then there is the celestal mage... elemental adept-mage... curiously, all Aravilar characters are mages. :smirk: |
| Vexxan06-13-04, 06:16 AM | So many characters so little webspace. I'll have to give mention to my last two characters, both exceptional characters to play and enjoyable within the group: Targus Rix - LN male Human Ftr6/Wiz5 An Aglarondan who saw his father fall from riches to rags due to Thayan attacks on their family-owned shipping business. He joined the militia and eventually left to pursue what he felt was a more effective means of dealing with the Thayans: counter-magic. He went on to command his own vessel and eventually clean up the ports and seaways around Aglarond, although he became a 'tolerated outlaw' due to his assosciation with pirates. Bendrick Iole - LN male Half-Elf Clr4/Wiz5 of Oghma Seer, prophet and counsellor all wrapped into one, Bendrick was a blast. I can't recall ever getting into a melee with this character but his spells and quick thinking guided the party to success countless times. He ended up being a benefactor to adventuring groups everywhere as he travelled, even ones he wasn't currently involved with. No one knew his true motive though, and as the player I think he himself was searching for one. The search itself was what he lived for; there was always something new to ponder and reflect on as he travelled. Sound like anyone famous in FR? It wasn't planned that way, but there are alot of similarities. If the two had met I'm sure they could have talked for many moons. I'll also say I absolutely love playing one more character, although he's a recurring NPC when I take the reigns as DM: Vexxan Tal'Amar - LE male Human Clr5/Ftr7 of Bane He courts both the Zhents and the Banites. As devoted as he is to their causes, he is equally maligned towards Cormyr and the Cyricists. Hailing from Thentia, he is a high-ranking individual at Zhentil Keep and his versatility often has him on remote assignments. He's the typical worst nightmare; tall, dark, fiercely determined and very capable. He's made paladins cry (well almost.. but I swear the pally wet his pants), turned close allies into bitter rivals and levelled towns with a single utterance. Vexxan's hand can usually be felt by those who know him, but he only seems to appear when bad turns to worst. |
| Monsoon2806-16-04, 09:40 AM | To be honest my first three Characters are still my favourites...Human Mage, Dwarven Fighter & a Human Cleric, along with my Dwarves half-dwarven Son a Fighter/Thief and my first Monster Character a DL Minotaur. While I've created dozens of other characters it seem my firsts have always had a special spot in my heart, I even recreated a Cyber-Knight human from the Rifts setting into a human Fighter when I first start 3.0 is also now a personal favourite (in both settings.) |
| Lancelot367906-16-04, 02:20 PM | Actually, you could modify the rules for the Psi-blade in the new psionics book to do a cyber-knight. Natural Armor plates and an so detection abilities and you are set. We tried to modify a juicer, but a human with 40 strength, 35 Dex, 40 con, and a speed of 280 was just too wrong for words. |
