Somebody's got to have 'em...

I'll start out with mine! Since I'm new here!

First of all Helm

He may be stoic and a little hard headed and cold sometimes, but his purpose is very noble. Pluse he's the only one to have not lost his power during the time of troubles! Ao knows he's da man! :D

Eilistraee:
Deviation from normal. Hope for the hopeless. Increadible light in the dark. She's amazing.

and lastly:

Selune: I personally love the stars and the moon, so that may help, plus her never ending battle against evil is inspiring.

Those are mine..lemme know yours!

Triton

Shar:
She's the reason everybody should sleep with one eye open. She never relents, never cares, and never loses. What other god openly takes on Mystra and Selune and says to heck with the rest(Except the mad Cyric)?:smirk:
The 'Liss

08-28-03, 03:39 PM
Well..she is one of the reasons why I love Selune. :D
Savras

08-28-03, 06:28 PM
I point you to the Deities sub-forum, and the exact same thread there.

O, and I think mine is rather obvious.

Savras

Auril is the coolest one, you all know I am right :p

I like Mask the most though, a feint within a feint within a feint. A real manipulating geezer. I like that.
Mirtek

1. Insane Cyric
2. Sane Cyric
3. Garagos
Glabrezubane

08-28-03, 08:37 PM
Well, who can argue that Eilistraee rocks? Not me! Still, I'd say my three fav deities are 1. Sune because I'm a hopeless romantic, 2. Loviatar, cause in the end, a babe in leather can only be beat by a red hot deity of love (a.k.a. Aphrodite, Sune, or Sharess. But Aphrodite isn't Forgotten Realms and having both Sharess and Sune would be redundant.) and 3. Hoar because, well, anyone named Doombringer who isn't evil has to rule. That's my take, and I know this seems off track, but I need adeity for a NPC CN drow (no daylight adaptation) renegade ranger/telepath who has a thing for demons and is usually in the Abyss or the Plane of Dreams. Oh, and what does it take to break through a Glabrezu's DR in v3.5? Is it both cold iron and the holy quality, or is it just one or the other? <Looks at his name.> :D Great thread.

Why there can be only the One, the All, the Dark Sun, the Black Sun, the Prince of Lies, Cyric!
Glabrezubane

08-28-03, 10:15 PM
Thanx, but not quite what I'm looking for. Doesn't lie a lot, and doesn't care about money, just having a good time. (of course, her idea of a good time is having an affair with a demon, or making innocent and beautiful human girls into her personal slaves...) Still, it's definitely a consideration... By the way, does anyone know the answer to my weapon question?
Kash Darreder

My favorites are Torm, Selśne and Talos, since these three all made appearances in my greatest and largest campaign.

Beyond these I am a big fan of Bane, Cyric, Savras and Moraddin
Cunning Linguist

I don't see why everyone likes Cyric, I hate soooooo much..

but I love Bane. He's super.

ALL HAIL LORD BANE!
The 'Liss

08-29-03, 09:11 AM
Would you say that bane is Thsspuper? (A la Sylvester)

I dunno, maybe it's my personality, but I just can't seem to like evil gods.

Because..they're um..evil..and do bad things?

Mr. VanderMeer

08-29-03, 10:44 AM
I was just explaining to someone on the Deities and Demigods boards that I really like Helm, because of the bad things he's done. It just makes him a lot more real-life. Because in reallife religions there's always good besides bad.
bradjob

08-29-03, 11:36 AM
Kelemvor. Why? He's the god of death and not evil. That combination almost never happens.

Gruumsh is cool too.

I dont really like any of either, but I think that they are extremely "cool" to use in a campaign where you destroy/spoil their evil plots.

No evil gods= Not many FR adventures.

My players can roleplay good all they want. Im the DM, and therefore it my role to stand for all the evil.

Ooo...well, I didn't say I didn't use evil gods or know them..my faves just happen to be good ones.

I don't like 'em..it's true, but I love to hate 'em...and use 'em to torture my players.

And on an unrelated note..I hate it when people say Drow, like "cow" :twitch:

it should be "drohw" heh..
Savras

08-29-03, 07:07 PM
Yes, but drow *is* pronounced like "cow"...

Savras

P.S.: Labales Enoreth, Elven god of time.

I realize how it's supposed to be said. But those in my group, who I learned everything about gaming said Drow...as oh...Drohw...

Said it sounds less bovine...less stupid that way. So we say Drohw.

Whoever thought up drow either hurt himself "ow" or was looking at a field of cows...."moo"

I guess it's like those who say "soon-ee" (Sune) or Selun-ah (Selūne)..and those who say "Soon" or "Sehloon". Everyone has their preferences. :D

Vintus

08-31-03, 07:30 AM
Sune....a Charisma of 50, even if she is a Goddess

Oghma...the God of Knowledge and Bards

Mask....God of Shadows And Thieves, and an initiatve of "...Mask always goes First."
Cyric the Dark Sun

CYRIC, THE ONE, THE ALL!

Helm

Umberlee
rmilsop

08-31-03, 10:02 AM
Mask.
For all the reasons everyone else has said.

He's just so much better than everyone else.

Kelemvor.
As was said, death but not evil, gives his paladins some great roleplay options.

Bhaal.
Cos he's dead and shouldn't be.

Cute. Orcus IS in the realms. He's been with the realms since it's birth with the Bloodstone Lands. He's been there since Kiaraselee killed him! And he's back now because he's in Faiths and Panethons AND UE. (Page 143). So that means he exists AND is a god. :p
The 'Liss

09-01-03, 02:25 AM
Ahh, sorry 'bout that, I don't know the drow gods well save for Lolth and Eilistraee...
Nighttfall

09-01-03, 02:54 AM
Well as a devoted follower of Orcus, I know a lot. I know his history and I know about his death, undeath, and rebirth. So there's little I don't know. Also as it relates to the Realms, I know most of the who and the what of Orcus.
The 'Liss

09-01-03, 03:05 AM
Way way in the very back of the Faiths and Pantheons it mentions Orcus briefly

It is a "monster" god..but obviously not orc...what race worships him? More info please?
Mr. Wilson

09-01-03, 03:18 AM
He's not a Monster God, but rather a prince of the Abyss. As in one of the three most powerful Demon Lords in the entire cosmology of DnD.

I believe in UE, it states most of his cult members are humans in the Realms.

He also conquered death, so is generally viewed as a patron of the Undead, something BoVD hints at that he's not to fond of, but will take advantage of.

And his worship is again on the rise in Faerun.

Info added for clarity:

He's growing into power in the Realms, and since he is being worshipped, he is actually strong enough to grant spells as a diety.
The 'Liss

09-01-03, 03:27 AM
UE?

And Faiths and Pantheons lists him as a Monster Deity.
Tamsar

09-01-03, 10:08 AM
UE= Unapproachable East.

My 3 fave's in no aprticular order

1. Torm the True. Any cyricist who calls him the fool shall feel my wrath! :)

2. Selune. The Moon and the Stars. She is just the coolest of the good dieties as well. And she rocked in the FR comic from the early 90's. uh oh, im old.

3. Orcus. Just plain old bad to the bone evil.
Nighttfall

09-01-03, 12:45 PM
By monster deity they mean a deity that has a large following of various monsters. And indeed, the Nar Barbarians are often known for summoning and binding demons...as thus often make packs/worship with Orcus and other demon princes.
Herr Doktor

Here's the list, starting with my favorite amongst favorites:
The Dead Three (formerly) - Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul
Selūne
Kelemvor
I've always liked the Dead Three and have toyed with the idea of Myrkul returning (who hasn't) via a cult devoted to him that works against the church of Kelemvor.

Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth.
Charfiend

09-01-03, 09:30 PM
Aye, here are my current three......

1. Leira, goddang i miss her.... to the Nine with Cyric and Mask, i hold eternal enmity for the both of them. I liked her for a lot 'o reasons but i won't get into them. (Sure brings back fond memories of 2nd ED)

2. Shar, she is a replacement of the former Goddess of Illusion. and i get a kick out of her unrelenting hatred for everyone. She really plays a large part in the balance of power, She and Bane are really the only powers withstanding the overflow of the Cyricist Movement. Those buggers are a plague, i hope Bane regains control over the Zhents.

3. Mr. Mephistopheles! Orcus is fun and all, but when you need a powerful outsider to spice up the party Meph is all the Party-Devil you'll need.
E'tii'stil Shadowsil

09-02-03, 01:32 AM
1. The Seldarine (Brothers and Sisters of the Wood) - For I am a tree-hugging pansy. :D
2. Shar - for sheer evil
3. Bane - Lord Tyrant
kedi

09-02-03, 08:25 AM
favorite god... first Seldarine of course, secondly sune or mask, they would have beautiful and deadly offspring:devil:

I don't mean to sound...well..critical...but you being a "devoted follower" may sound a bit...off to people.

I really really truly hope you do know he/she/it doesn't exist because this is all fantasy...right? :smirk:

Yes  I know Orcus isn't a real person. But he is based of an existing being, Orcus which was one of Hades' names. In any case I just know alot about Orcus. :P

1) Mystra--Magic will always be the lifeblood of fantasy, no matter who controls it.
2) Shar--The Shadow Weave is one of the most brilliant ideas of all time IMO. Plus, the shadows of night and secrets are cool, too.
3) Selune--Silver is my favorite color; moonlight and lycanthropes rock as well.
4) Tymora--Who doesn't need luck every now and then?
5) Mask--Shadows and thieves. 'Nuff said.

Torm is my personal favorite, I like Lathander also, and Kelemvor. Sune is ok, so is Mystra.
Jelanen

10-01-03, 10:04 AM
1. Mielikki - My base char class is always ranger
2. Tyr - Big fan of justice tempered with goodness, played a paladin of Tyr once and throughly enjoyed it.
3. Bane - If your gonna be evil I'd rather be cool, calculating evil. Also played a cleric of Bane once and really enjoyed screwing over my groupmates to advance my own lust for power.
Sylvos

10-01-03, 10:13 AM
My favorite is Gwaeron Windstrom, my ranger for 10+ years has followed him and Mielikki. After Gwaeron I like Hoar the Doombringer and the former Lord of Murder, Bhaal.
I also like the new Shar, they have done an excellent job making her a protagonist to most of the pantheon without a lot of drama.

Bane is awsome.
I don't know why but I never get tired of iron fisted tyranny.
Cyric, plans like cobra commamder (thats twice in one day) Heck he's almost as bad as shar, An eternity and nothing to show!

mask is definately my fav god. My only thing with him is that he seems to be so dumb some times. He was hurt badly in the Tim eof Trroubles, then again in the Cyric fiasco, he seems to be realy supid for his actual intelligence, which I don't have infornt of me, but it is high. He is an absolute great guy, sneaky as all hell and fun
Fabius Maximus

10-03-03, 03:24 PM
Mine is Shaundakul. I like the idea of travelling and seeing much of the world.
Cheiron

10-04-03, 06:50 PM
My favorite god has to be Lathander, but the absolute coolest has to be the god of the trifold throne who just got bored and said hey you three mortals (Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul) want my powers, ok thats cool with me. I do believe that was Jergal but i could be wrong.
Gotrex

Moradin

Love his attitude towards everything and the fact that he created the dwarves

Clangeddin Silverbeard

Perfect example of the dwarven warrior which i love

Shar

Really like how she is mysteriouse and like the shadow weave since it opposes mystra who i hate

Talos

like talos because he so true to his portfolio and is the very embodyment of destruction

Mask

Though i general dislike rogues i make an exception for mask since i like how crafty he can be - main reason i like him is because of "prince of lies" and "crucible: trial of cyric the mad"

1. Shaundakul- I like Shaundakul because he represents travel and discovery. He would like to purge Myth Drannor of fiends, and I think it would be a good idea for Myth Drannor to be rebuilt and repopulated after evil is swept from it. For a Chaotic Neutral deity, he can perform some heroic acts, such as defending his distressed worshippers from wolves, orcs, or worse. It's always good to know your deity is looking out for ya. Besides, the Wind Walker is a really cool prestige class.

2. Shevarash- I like Shevarash because he's an elven deity who hates drow, like I do. He promotes relentless and merciless attacks on drow, as they do to sufacers. (And you know I love killing the little punks.) Probably my favorite character to play as is a tenacious moon elf who worships Shevarash and devotes his time to waylaying dark elves, particularly ones of House Jaelre or of the Auzkovyn Clan.
