06-14-05, 10:48 PM I've heard it pronounced both ways...so which is proper? Fay-Run or Fay-Rune?

At the very least, I can tell you for certain that if it was just Fay-Run then it wouldt have that obscure character over the "u".

Yeah I forgot about that one but I've heard it called that as well...personally I thought it was Fay-Roon but for some reason I always say it as Fay-Run.

06-15-05, 04:53 PM I think in Waterdeep its Fay-run. In Cormyr its Fay-rune, and in Chessenta its Fay-roooooon. Probably a million ways to pronounce it.....

06-16-05, 03:10 PM Fay-rune is how it is prounounced in Black Isle and Bioware games.Not in Baldur's Gate, in which it's 'Farrun' (first vowel short, second is a schwa, stress on first syllable) -- which tells you how far to trust the other pronunciations there.

The 'obscure character' on the û is a circumflex, a common accent.
