| nekrolog10-25-04, 01:28 AM | I don't think any of them should be considered the same as regional feats, since none of them have the prerequisite that they must be taken at 1st level. Plus the power levels seem to be more in line with regular general feats; regional feats are typically slightly more powerful. Just treat them like general feats with race prereq's. |
| Tempus66510-25-04, 02:37 AM | According to the Player's Guide to Faerūn, the following are considered regional feats. I treat them as such, but make them a little more powerful so that they are on par with the other regional feats. Aftersight Ancestral Spirit Animal Friends Arachnid Rider Arctic Adaptation Azerblood Batrider Caravanner Disentangler Drow Eyes Genie Lore Gift of Tongues Grim Visage Harem Trained Iron Mind Jotunbrud Jungle Stamina Landwalker Metallurgy Nobody's Fool Oral History Plague Resistant Shadow Shield Shadow Song Sky Rider Spire Walking Stoneshaper Theocrat Of course it's handy to actually have the Player's Guide, since a lot of feats got revised. |

I mean: the system proposed by PGtF (to "regionalise" these RoF Feats) is not really satisfactory... First of all, if you make these regional Feats, many of them pale in comparison with the "real" regional Feats of PGtF. e.g. "Ancestral Spirit": it is supposed to be a regional Feat (i.e. you have to take it at level 1 and you can only have one), but it offers only two +2 to skills. Compared to other Regional skills, it is quite weak... Or let's take "Nobody's Fool" (RoF) and compare it to "Cosmopolitan" (PGtF), why would one chose the earlier over the latter?? But that's not the worse. There are some of these "regional-ised" skills from RoF that have other Regional skills as prerequisites. It means you would never be able to have them since you're allowed only one regional Feat. For example: "Draw from the Land" (UNA) or "Aftersight" (RoF). If I remember correctly, you have to have the Ethran Feat to take any of these... But if you have the Ethran Feat you already have one regional Feat so you can't take them anymore... I know that this sounds like powergaming, but I think that if you want to make the regional Feats the powerful thing they became with the PGtF you should at least be consistent throughout... So I am a bit sceptical about these "Regional-ised" Feats from RoF... They should probably release an Errata that upgrades them to the level of usefulness of the Regional Feats from PGtF. Bocklin |
