Hello I was wondering if they are going to finnish the on going FR novels before the jump to the future?

-I don't know, but it would only make sense, as there is nothing we have been told that makes me think that the novel timeline will not be bumped up as well.

I asked RLB this over at Candlekeep, since some of his Haunted Lands series will come out after the 4e transition. He wouldn't talk about what the timeline of the series was, but he did say:

But I will say that the trilogy is going to unfold as it was conceived from the start. So, while you may or may not like it (obviously, I hope you will!), you don't have to worry that I had one story in mind, and then had to make big, illogical, dramatically ineffective changes part way through to fit the company game plan.

Which made me feel better. I probably won't be buying any novels (and certainly not any gaming products) after the 4e switch, but at least I'll be able to finish the current ones in peace.

-I could see that trilogy ending in the "new" Realms. Think about it- Szazz Tam is a Lich...What does he care about the passage of time? Perhaps he goes into hiding, or hibernation, or something, and wakes up, a stranger in a strange land (4e Thay) in Book III.

I certainly hope not, I don't want to buy anything with 4e on it. Besides which, doesn't the entire plateu get nuked? Kinda hard to to survive even in hiding, and that's assuming that any lich, with their reliance on magic to exist, can survive the Stupidplague.

Obviously, any ongoing series are going to be finished. Some will, apparently, incorporate the Spellplague into their storylines.

-From what I understand, parts of Thay are simply going to float into the sky. I am assuming that they stop while still within the atmosphere and float there, creating large land masses similar to Ancient Netheril.

Magical items or creations like liches and golems wont stop working.
Besides, he doesent need to survive, his phylacetry does however.

And by having a thousand.. one in a pool, on a island in the moonshaes, the next in a piece of jewellery on the moon, a third placed under the ruins of elminsters tower.. a fourth.. you get the idea.
Atleast one is bound to survive, and thus the lich.

-With almost every single prepared spell and magic item in Halruaa exploding, one never knows.
