| Thunderbox09-28-03, 04:16 PM | I'm playing a priest of Silvanus and the highest honor would be to become a forest master (Faiths and Pantheons) but my DM wants to remove some of the her abilities because he thinks that she is too powerful and calls her "overpowered" What do you think? |
| Alrunic Silverfyre09-28-03, 04:24 PM | I wouldn't say the class is overpowering but it is definitely one of the stronger classes. The whole plant metamorphesis is a very interesting ability and does give the class some great bonuses. The BAB and saves are nice as is the spell progression and hit dice. It is a very good class and gives out some great stuff... If I was your DM, I'd ask for a good role playing reason and maybe even a paragraph or two written on how your character became a forest master. How does he gain access to it? My golden rule has always been "If you have a good backstory for it and it makes sense, then why not?" |
| Green Elven Vampire09-29-03, 09:09 PM | Hell, I even made the Forest Master a specialty cleric of Rillifane Rallathil instead of Silvanus |
| Alrunic Silverfyre09-29-03, 09:12 PM | I used it in place of the Verdant Lord PrC for my druid of Mielikki. |
| Fredegar The White09-30-03, 05:01 AM | my DM wants to remove some of the her abilities because he thinks that she is too powerful and calls her "overpowered" Next time he tells you that tell him to remove a the innate magic of a balor because you think a balor is overpowered! I am a DM my self (90% of the time anyway) and if players want a PrC and they qualify for it they take it without question! The whole overpowered thingi is DM abusing because he is afraid he won't be able to challenge you! p.s. tell him about the Balor and if he starts a lecture "I am the master of this game tell him that he is PART of the game!" |
| Thunderbox10-06-03, 05:05 PM | I just wanted to have some good arguments why the forets master is not overpowered. Thanks for trying to help me dealing with my DM but I am just interested in arguments. |
| primemover00310-06-03, 05:21 PM | A Dungeon Master should always have final say in what PrC's are allowed in their campaigns. I'm pretty disappointed that more PrC's don't have some special campaign requirements. I think Prestige classes are special and should be harder to enter into than just the bare requisites. Remembar PrC's are completely Optional. |
| Kacesen_Black10-06-03, 06:33 PM | I dont think the forest master is a weak PRC, but it is kick ass. sur some of its powers are powerful but thats nothing on the soul eater. If anything its prity balanced in its stuff, but thats just what i think |
