I thought it would be very interesting for us to collect a set of links to various artist's visions of what the Realms and their denizens look like. By this I don't mean post your own pictures, as there is a forum just for that Art Gallery (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=391) What I am after is ...

* Art that directly relates to the Forgotten Realms

* Official galleries. Please don't post links to galleries that steal artists work.

* Please post links rather than using the img tags, as otherwise it will take too long to load the thread.

I'll start us off with a link to sporeboy's amazing pictures. This is a series of pictures made as portraits for the FR based Neverwinter Nights computor game. I first saw these as full size images on
GFXartist (http://www.gfxartist.com/) but you have to be a member there to see the images. Sporeboy has most of them on his own website, although they are a lot smaller.

*Michael Mueller is an artist from Vancouver, Canada. This page showcases his Forgotten Realms inspired art.*

I know there isn't much, but I'll add more very soon. :)

Excellent stuff people  Can you do me a favour ... please add a line or two telling us what you will find at the link. Eventually I intend to put the links together and post them on the "FR FAQs & Information" forum, and it will make my task a lot easier. Also it will be helpful to those reading this thread.

A message to those of you posting your own art ... very nice work :ayyyy!: but if you don't post these links on the Art Gallery (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=391) as well as here, I shall be forced to ritually slaughter you in the nearest temple of Cyric :schemes:

Sammael_the_Chosen I couldn't find any Forgotten Realms pictures in Chris Appelhans gallery. Have I overlooked something?

How about a link to the arch-masters of fantasy art (FR and other) themselves?

Todd Lockwood (http://www.toddlockwood.com/Illustrations.html)
.. with covers for Faiths & Avatars (Corellon defeating Gruumsh), the Villains' Lorebook (e.g. Fzoul, Cassana and Zie Prakis (sp?) ), Powers & Pantheons (Garagos), The Wyrmskull Throne, City of the Spider Queen (Irae & Wulgreth) plus pics of Jarlaxle, lots of dragons and some nasty looking Drow and Illithids (not FR though).

Larry Elmore (http://www.larryelmore.com/)
... with covers for various FR sourcebooks and those of the Drizzt do'Urden books and other FR novels.

Big Sis, you owe me for looking up all these pics at 0.37 a.m. ;)

Some of these Artist are currently, or have at one time or another drawn for either TSR or WOTC. Why they are not now or as frequently i don't know. Not all of their work on their web pages pertains just to Forgotten Realms. Some are from Dragonlance as well, or even just freelance work they have done over the years. these web sites are their own personal web sites so please do not "borrow" their work.

Chris Appelhans was a concept artist for Black Isle Studios, and some of the art in his gallery pertains to Icewind Dale II and the ill-fated Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound (the aforementioned Highmoon drawings).

A General Request
Once again can I ask you to only post links to art which is definitely of the Forgotten Realms. This is not supposed to be a general fantasy art list .... if it was then this thread wouldn't belong in these forums. If is extremely helpful if you actually tell us what the FR connection is, especially if the actual lgallery you are linking to doesn't make it clear :)

I am not certain I understand. Highmoon is most definitely a city in the Dalelands, perhaps the best-known part of the Forgotten Realms. Is it a problem that the art was originally concept art for a Forgotten Realms computer game?

If the links aren't suitable, just delete my previous post.

Sammael that was a general plea, not aimed at ou. You've been really helpful and given me exactly the sort of links and information I am looking for! :ayyyy!:

This giirl's work is awesome; you can find in her page some art related to the realms, specially Drow. SHe has also some very nice LOTR pictures. Check the links to her other webpages also.

biomante that's spooky  I was just about to post Jenny Dolfen's Deviant Art Gallery link! I love her work :)

Rob Thomas (http://mindsiphon.deviantart.com/) Not all of Rob's work is based on Realms characters (some of it is for other roleplaying games) but he has some wonderful Realms pix ... especially those Yuanti!

Kay Allen (http://www.epilogue.net/cgi/database/art/list.pl?gallery=138) A wonderful portrait artist. Many of her commissions are for D&D characters, often from the Realms. Her Drow images are particularly famous.

Jenny Dolfen is one of the artists that I have in my gallery. She was gracious enough to allow me to post them. Looks like she's developed quite a following.

He has his own thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=199443&perpage=30&pagenumber=4) in the Art Gallery (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=391) forum, but here is the homepage of Retinal Haze (http://www.black-elephant.com/~retinalhaze/main.htm). Mostly character and creature sketches. The psionic dwarf is especially well done.

Due to some serious bullying from an "older relative" (take a bow sis) I am venturing back into these boards again. I've been keeping an eye out for FR art on my usual travels through the various online galleries, and came across these.

Not to hijack the thread Big Sis. But speaking about art, there are some Realms source books that are not in the ART GALLERY Archive section in the Wizards Website. Most notable is the Silver Marches Source book. Could someone in the book department bring that up, it has a lot of nice art that should be showcased. (Don't know if all the artist are still with WOTC though).
