There's usually plenty to report, eventually, from the various seminars, which this year include Thursday: Forgotten Realms Reception Friday: What's New in the Forgotten Realms; A Discussion with R.A. Salvatore Saturday: Elminster Speaks; Spin a Yarn with Ed Greenwood Sunday: Wizards of the Coast Author Readings Being in the wrong country stopped me from going. Faraer 07-26-03, 08:10 PM	Gen Con Europe (formerly UK) has been going for years. With the RPG industry based in the States it's not the huge event the Milwaukee/Indianapolis event is, though it was the opportunity of my meeting Ed Greenwood when he signed at Orc's Nest.

loki87 07-28-03, 04:56 PM	Ed has started work on a series of Novels involving the Knights of Myth Drannor. They first one should hit store shelves sometime next year. :D It's about time! The KoMD are definitely some of the coolest characters in the Realms, and they've deserved their own series. Now that Ed has evolved as a writer, and I expect these to be very enjoyable!
Faraer 07-28-03, 06:04 PM	I'm also looking forward to the Knights novels more than I have any other TSR/WotC books -- the Realms has no "main characters" but they come the closest. The books were announced in late 2002 in this press release (http://www.zackcompany.com/pressreleases/ed5bookdealpr.htm). ericlboyd 07-29-03, 12:52 PM	--OK, not speaking on behalf of Wizards, but, as this was discussed at GenCon 2003 ... A new FR release planned for next year (date unspecified) will be "Serpent Kingdoms" dealing with all things reptilian in the Realms. Written by Ed Greenwood, Darrin Drader, and myself, it focuses on the yuan-ti and includes geography chapters focused on areas heretofore largely untouched in previously released Realms products (1e, 2e, or 3e). In effect, it's both a geography and a race book. Some of the place names rattled off include Tashalar, Thindol, Samarach, Serpentes, Lapaliiya, Okoth, Isstosseffifil, and Najara ... you'll have to be a true Realms scholar to dig up some of those references <evil grin> ... --Eric
Faraer 07-29-03, 03:12 PM	Sold, with Ed and Eric working on it. Although I tend to think the distant regions work better as horizons than as settings, covering all that land in one book should give enough information to spice up campaigns set elsewhere, and appease those who've waited patiently to see those places detailed. So, who knows what Isstosseffifil and Najara are?

I know there was a lot of cool stuff announced, and that's it's hard to keep track of it all. But if nobody else is going to repeat what I said, I guess I can do it myself. So here's my crass and shameless bit of self-promotion: I'm writing a trilogy called The Year of Rogue Dragons. It's the epic story of a threat to all Faerūn and the exploration of a primordial mystery. It features a legendary archvillain, character races and classes that many people who post here have expressed interest in seeing, and about a jillion dragons. The first novel is called The Rage, and it comes out in April, 2004. I hope you guys will check it out.

Alot of what youve said will be in Serpent Kingdom sounds like it should have been part of the Yuan Ti entry in Races of Faerun..

The last Sembia Novel, Lord of Stormweather, moved the time line into the new realms year.

See, my diabolical strategy is to try to say just enough to get peple interested, but not enough to spoil any of the surprises. Sorry about that.
