Nevynxxx 03-07-06, 07:32 AM	Hi All, I am trying to get my players roleplaying a little more. They found some books some months back (real, and game time, and rather stole than found). They are still carrying the books around, but pretty much ignoring them. I am trying to introduce the content of the books a little at a time, as plot points, eg the first one contains necromantic magic which the Wzard decoded. One of the books I want to be a diary, of the BBEG, and I want it written in something they don't understand, that they need to get translated. I'm thinking this will work better if I can say, during a session, here this is one of the books you stole ages ago. They open it up and it has a load of incomprehensable scribble. That should get them looking around, and most importantly, interested. I was hoping to hand write the last section of the diary, so I can make it look hurried and rushed, but the rest I simply don't have the time to go through doing. I was hoping to find a font for one of the languages in the FRCS to use as the basis for the book, then hand write the last few pges, bind it, and burn it up a bit. That should give me a nice interesting trinket to tempt them with. So, any links to such a font, or ideas for other ways of achieveing the same thing? Sorry for the length of the post by the way, I didn't inend it to be quite so long....

Dynneroth 03-07-06, 03:29 PM	I would probably type what you wanted into an online translator like the one here (http://babelfish.altavista.com/) and translate it into Italian or Greek or something similar. Then I would copy and paste it into a word processing program like MS Word and then change the font to something different like one found here (http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=705). After that, stain the paper with tea, bake it in the oven, and burn the edges.

Good idea, I'd like to not make it too complicated though, I want to give them a reasonable chance of decoding it rather than just having it decoded by some other. Afterall, the person that decodes it could prove a problem, if they see the content! I'll have a look at the official fonts, I'm not above paying a little for something like this. <edit? It turns out the Font's I want are on Candlekeep. Thanks for al the advice though, now to write a few dozen pages of journel....
