I have read this thread Novel Discussion Presently Disallowed (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=8098300#post8098300).. :weep: but, I have a question regarding the Forgotten Realms Novel Guide (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=books/frng). Since it is on the wizards.com domain, and this forum is about Forgotten Realms I didn't know where else to post this question :( . Is it accurate? In other words, am I correct in assuming the order of books withing the Guide is the suggested order of reading?

Thank you in advance,

If you're talking about which books were first, the books per author are in chronological order; the authors are not. So the top book in the list of 'the Elminster series' is the first book of that series, but the complete Elminster series is older than the Sembia series, yet it is lower on the list. If you want to see which book was first, just click on any book and the release date will be shown on the right.

I only saw this novel guide after reading this question. But I noticed that first the recommendation is given to a new FR-novel reader to begin with the Sembia serie. But not what to read after you finished the whole serie.

Not that I hold myself to any guide what so ever, because what I buy is mostly depandent on what's in store at the time of my purchase. I live in Rotterdam, Netherlands and the only shop I know in town to sell wizards of the coast stuff, still does not have the complete collection and the owner says, the deliverance aren't very reliable. I went to buy 'Evermeet, islands of elves' yesterday and I came back with the whole collection of 'Legacy of the drow', which was the only serie he had complete.

What does strike me is that in no book I have read till now (City of Ravens, Twilight Giants trilogy) there is a mention of the time frame. At least it could be written somewhere on the back or on the colofon-pages. Now I just have to guess when what takes place.
So if I would like to read the novel in chronologicle order (the date at Toril, that is) where would I find such information?

You can discuss the novels on the forums at candlekeep.com.

LadyM, for books published up to 2002, see here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=books/fr/fictionlist). And try amazon.co.uk.
