| SilasleCake05-10-05, 12:11 PM | Greeting to all. How doeth thee? :) Anyway I bought the Forgotten Realms campaign setting and I am now starting to run an FR campaign and I was-a-wondering :thinks: wether any of thee hath and ideas about what cool FR books/accesories there are. The reason I am asking this is because the only place for me to get D&D books in English is the internet :nonono:  so I like to get several books at once to save money on shipping, and I want to buy the Monster Manual II, and a FR book. So what would you recommend? My campaign will be starting soon. The first adventure starts in a village on a peninsula. This village is quite isolated, as the peninsula is closed off by mountains and a deep forest. The adventurers aproach these mountains to explore a Kobold mine where they have to save some people. I am going to incorporate a hook to another quest, because they discover that these cultists are hiding deep in the mine. In the next adventurer they will be after the cult. So I was just saying this to give you info about what might be useful for me. Please give me some advice! :help: :waits: |
| Tempus66505-10-05, 03:34 PM | There are so many great FR books, it's hard to not just recommend them all!! :) Player's Guide to Faerūn is great if you want to have a complete 3.5 update to the Realms. Lost Empires of Faerūn gives great information about some of the great empires that ruled parts of the place in the past. There's a lot of stuff n there that you can use in adventures and campaigns. Cults, peninsulas and kobolds...I don't know what book would suit this idea the best, but my bet is on either Shining South or Serpent Kingdoms. |
| The Captain05-13-05, 12:59 AM | There is an acitve thread, I think it's called "Hello All", that should help you out. |
| Dargoth05-13-05, 02:31 AM | Lords of Darkness: Contains info on alot of Faeruns evil organisation, this one could handy if your looking for a premade cult Regional Source books Silver marches Unapproachable east Serpent Kingdoms Underdark Shining South These books go into greater details on different regions of Faerun. Whether they will be useful to ou in your current campaign depends on where your going to set it. Global Books/Books suitable for your players Races of Faerun Players guide to Faerun Lost Empires of Faerun: Lore heavy book full of 10,000+ years of FR history it also has 3.5 updated material for alot of the 3.0 creatures in Monsters of Faerun Faithes and Pantheons: If religions going to be a strong theme in your campaign then you'll want this book as it details the Faithes and deities of Faerun |
| Red_Decker05-13-05, 03:23 AM | Another resource rather then MMII is Monsters of Faerun. This book has a few realms specific monsters that aren't in anyother book. But, yeah, Shining South and Serpent Kingdoms are both good books to get for that part of Faerun. http://www.geocities.com/customsmiliesbyswordmaster/inthered.txt |
| Kadasbrass05-13-05, 03:50 AM | There was an old issue of Dragon Mag that talked about some old kobold folk lore. There is a mountain in the copper moutains (in whats now Murghom) called the Kobold Crown. While no kobolds live there now, it is said that an ancient kobold teasure is hidden there from some lost kobold empire. |
