FR character, need help! [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-11-06, 04:29 AM I am going to make a character, but I have few problems like what race I should play, or what class.

But here is some info:

Books I can use: All core books, FR campaign settings and races of Faerūn (maybe, my friend owns that book).
Races I would like to play: Githyanki (Most likely), Aasimar and Drow (maybe, not sure).
Classes I would like to play: Maybe Paladin or Ranger.
Prestige class I would like to take: Blackguard most likely.

If you need more info just let me know.

I would suggest that you play a Githyanki or Drow Aasimar, and take levels in either Paladin or Ranger. Also, I would suggest looking up the pre requisites for becoming a Blackguard and start looking at taking those feats.

Seriously. If you want useful input you need to tell us what sort of character you are looking to play, from the point of view of "I would like to be cool headed, able to heal myself and others to a certain degree, but also a mean mofo in battle" or, "I want to travel with animal companions and always feel at home when outside under the stars, while also being able to cast some spells and wield 2 weapons (although that seems to have fallen by the wayside in 3.5e)

Then, and only then can we give you useful info on what classes, races and presige you shoudl take. If you already know classes, races and prestige, then there is no point asking really.

Although, for my tuppence worth, the races you have picked are needlessly obscure, while the classes you have picked seem rather pedestrian. You must be looking at an evil character, if you are aiming for Blackguard, so why you are considering Paladin is a little beyond me, unless you are planning to "fall" which kind of takes the story out of the hands of the DM a little. YOu would be better playing a cleric of BAne (for arguments sake) who taskes the necessary Blackguard prereqs and prestige classes when you hit the appropriate level.

04-13-06, 09:22 PM I love drow characters. Be a drow, and be a blackgaurd. But, start with a fighter class. I know from expierience that drow fighters rock, because of level adjustment. :cool:

-Feh, I say. Dwarves are unrefined, smelly brutes, that have nothing but rocks in their heads! Would you ever want to play a character whose smell makes a bugbear blush?
