Amryll 07-29-05, 08:38 PM	Can anyone tell me what the names of various coinages are in FR? i have heard crowns, falcons and i think nobles, but the countries that copme from ellude me at the moment, so the names of where they come from would help as well. thanks
WagnerSika 07-30-05, 11:21 AM	Copper coins: Thumbs, Cormyr Steelpence, Sembia unarches, radas, niftens, and spanners from Calimshan(probably each city has its own name for this coin) Fander , Amn Nib, Waterdeep Silver coins: Falcon, Cormyr Raven, Sembia Decarche, Espedrille, and the ochre-tinted Red Worm of Memnon, Calimshan Taran, Amn Shard, Waterdeep Electrum: (I dont think electrum coins are used anymore in the 3e ) Blue Eyes throughout the Heartlands Tazos and Zonths, Calimshan Centaur, Amn Gold: Golden lions is used a lot in the realms though only Cormyrean coins have a lion depicted in them. Danter, Amn Dragon, Waterdeep Noble, Sembia Platinum is called Tricrown (Cormyr), plat, pearl (particulary in the south officially Roldon) Sun, Waterdeep There are special coins also out there like the Waterdhavian Toal and Harbor Moon Some of this info might be outdated as I got it from different 2ed sources and the 3E Hope this is useful :)

Electrum isn't in the 3E rules, but that has no effect on electrum coinage in the Realms world.
WagnerSika 07-30-05, 12:07 PM	That is a good list. I used the same source as you actually. I also looked at the 3E Forgotten Realms campaign setting (page 91). I noticed that Sembian Hawks have been changed into Ravens. About electrum. I actually have replaced gold with electrum in my campaign as the base money. Mostly flawor, but it increases the value of gold a lot. Of course the PCs get more electrum from their enemies than gold, gold is scarcer so they are not any richer than they would be if gold was used as standard monetary unit. I think silver would be even better (now that electrum seems to have disappeared from the money charts) but am too lazy to change standards again. Anyway, I don't see electrum being mentioned in 3.0 FR campaign setting as coinage at all. WagnerSika

I noticed that Sembian Hawks have been changed into Ravens. given the overlord's son is known as the silver raven, and his silver raven's adventuring trope. my money is his influance has effected this change

Would they still be valued between the silver and gold piece? 1 ep = 5 sp =1/2 gp? I use at the moment 100 sp = 10 ep = 1 gp.
