Welcome everybody, this is both a social club and a fight club for FR players. This is only PC versus PC, There are two kind of fighting here:

1-Friendly; if you want to prove yourself or just want to get xperience, you should post me so I can arrange a fight between two people.

2-Tournaments; Once in two months or more often, I'll arrange a tournament which you bear the title "Champion of the Fight Club"

The rules for D&D Fight Club are

RP
You're free to do any kind of stuff while matching. You don't roll dice but I do it for you.

Creating character and becoming a member
Anybody can be a member (beginner level is 10). Post your characters to this thread, assign your abilities with point buying (32 points), you can maximum take 20 point in one ability(if you have a racial bonus, you can take 22) you must prepare your character as 10 level, any official PrC is available to play. You can gain xperiance in tournaments or friendly matches. You can, however become a DM, if you do, you can't play unless you retire from beign a DM.

Kedi, you will have to stipulate more than that if you wish for this to get off the ground. Because I'm lazy, I've only thought of somethings, but here some are:

1. Arena: If its a plain circular arena with no cover, close combat will be useful. If there's cover, archers will rule by hiding and shooting, etc. Think of all the kinds of things that could happen.

2. Characters: Only standard? Monsters too? You should specify on the subject, ie if use monster too post a list of ECL, etc.

3. Magic Items and Spells: Say the character has a magic item or spell that allows them Improved Invisibility, and they fight a fighter with no way to stop it. They just stab him in the throat. I know you could just counter with magic items or wizards of their own, but you could end up with people having strategies of winning over anything, or people with only wizards (or strange invincible combos of races (monsters) and classes).

So I think you should think of all the possibilities before you start, and make sure it works. And if you need a DM, I'll do some tournament work maybe ;p (although I am in school this year)

But great idea, kedi XD

Kaeltryn, answers to your questions:

1- Arena: open arena witout anything, 500 ft

2-Characters: CR must be 10, any creature you want but official D&D ones, not custom ones.

3-You are allowed to use: choose one; 1 10.000gp item, 2 3500gp item, 5 1000gp item
plus; you can get any masterwork items, racial items can not be selected if you're not a member of it's race (like a human can't choose to get dwarven warhammer or drowish poison bolts) You're allowed to choose any kind of spell as you like, there is no limit.

And many of us are student, so I'll try to arrange competitions in weekends or holidays or in the evenings. I have all qualities to be a DM, don't you worry. Ask me anything you like

Some questions. Are we to simply post the character in this thread, and we are done? How are the battles going to be played?Should we give a general strategy for our characters that you will then play out?
kedi

08-21-03, 11:32 AM
You can either post your characters here or mail me at kedi98@hotmail.com

You're going to RP but a PC vs PC or PC vs NPC RP, just like normal FRP, the difference is that the dm rolls dice, we can't always trust PCs, can we?

an example:

<you>I cast a magic missile on roland
<dm>roland, nightingale casts a magicmissile at you, you don't seem to take much damage

like this

Can't resist...

First rule of Fight Club is - You do not talk about Fight Club.
Second rule of Fight Club is - YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB!

If I had the v3.5 books, I'd jump in... :(

You aren't serious about allowing anything in that High Arcana Guild thread, are you?

I mean, I've taken a look at the first PrC out there... that True Sorcerer. It's so overpowered I am about to laugh. Spell Power +5, Leadership, various feats, plus prerequisites so effective that one sorcerer out of two can qualify.

I'd suggest you stick with WotC material and allow third-party stuff on a case-to-case basis. (although you can probably allow any of Law's spells without even checking... he's really good at them)

Alrighty... :)

Question: 32 points!? That's an average of 4 scores being 5, with two being 6. Is there something I'm missing? (Keep in mind, commoners have average scores of 10 in all stats, with modifications by race.)

Aah, that's even worse! I must ask, what point buying system is being used? Is there a base upon which the points are being applied? (Str 5, Dex 5, Con 5, Int 5, Wis 4, Cha 4 adds up to 28, and even with the two points added for 4th and 8th levels would bring all the numbers to 5.)

Per the Player's Handbook:
Your scores are considered too low if your total modifiers (before changes according to race) are 0 or less, or if your hightest score is 13 or lower.

What am I missing?
kedi

08-21-03, 04:59 PM
darn, look
ý said 28 but take 10 each abilities at first, lik
10+2
10+5
10+7
10+4
10+1
10+2
got that? and incresing an ability costs ability modifier,
11-13 1 point
14-15 2 point
16-17 3 point
18-19 is 4 point

anyway, create your character with standart 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 plus 2 for creating a 10 level character.

it's easier
cdrradar

08-21-03, 05:26 PM
Ok, so following the table, hiking a score up to 18 would cost 17 points? (3 for 10 to 13, 2 each for 14 and 15, 3 each for 16 and 17, and 4 for 18)

Following the same logic, a base score of 20 would be 26 points?

That being the case, your base numbers of 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, and 8 add up to 16 points.

Still lost.

Sorry for asking again, but I am a newbie on online roleplaying. If each battle is played on this thread wouldn't the site be made incredibly long?Or is there another place, like a chatroom where we can run the battles real time?
cdrradar

08-21-03, 07:10 PM
Perhaps what might be easiest is if you posted the costs each statistic would be. Using the formula given, that would be:

10: 0 points
11: 1 point
12: 2 points
13: 3 points
14: 5 points
15: 7 points
16: 10 points
17: 13 points
18: 17 points
19: 21 points
20: 26 points

Sorry if I seem to be difficult, but I've only played the NWN CRPG that had a point buy system, and I have no idea if any kind of standard exists.

Hit points - will you be rolling those beyond 1st level?

I am ready to fight for the power that is rightfully mine!

I challenge Roland Goodknight to a fight to the death! His "I'm holier than thou" attitude just sickens me and I look forward to showing him what REAL power is all about.

*Walks over to Roland and insults his mother.*

Now what do I do?

P.S. - I have sent you my character sheet via E-mail Kedi, and I'll be ready anytime tonight (or early morning). I used the 28 point buy shown in the Dungeon Master's Guide in the CHaracter's chapter.
Raven Dark

08-21-03, 10:52 PM
How about we just keep the character creation rules simple? Like the following for an example:

CHARACTER GENERATION
- Character must start at 10th level (ECL=10)
- Character can use any equipment that could normally be used by a 10th level character (that is you start off with 49,000gp to buy stuff)
- Only the three Core Rule Books (DMG, MM, & PH) and the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting Guide can be used for your character.
- Use the Nonstandard 28 point buy system outlined in the DMG for ability score generation.
- Use 3.5 material, if you don't have it, make a character and E-mail Kedi and he will update it.

FIELD
- A big circular arena as outlined in above posts.

RULES
- If you win a fight against a challenger you will earn XP and GP appropriate to the CR of your opponent.
- Any other rules are set by the challenger and challengee before the match starts (including, but not limited to in-character betting if it is not a deathmatch)

Well, what do you think Kedi? I added a few extra things, I suppose, but its easier.

R.D.'s Bio for all to see.

Name: RavenDark, Gentleman & Necromancer most foul (a.k.a., The Unseen Death)

Sex: Male Height: 5’ Hair Color: Black
Age: 152 Years Weight: 94 lbs. Eye Color: Deep Green

Appearance: R.D. is dark in both appearance and mood. With his long dark hair, pale skin, chiseled features, and intense gaze, he has an air of power about him that few others can match. He would be considered handsome if only it weren’t for his diminutive height, gaunt physique, greased hair, grim expression, and hooked nose.

Clothing: R.D. prefers loose clothing that is well suited to harsh weather and long travels in the cold environments of the North. He disdains the typical robes common to wizard-kind, realizing that such garments would only make him a target to his enemies. He also favors sets of clothing that allow him to hide material components and devices that may not be socially acceptable such as humanoid finger bones or the like. Nearly everything he wears: boots, breaches, gloves, and shirt, have been died a deep black to better match his grim outlook upon the world in which he lives.

Personality Description: R.D. is just as likely to grant someone mercy as he is to kill them for a small slight. Some say he is insane, but none say so to his face for fear of his retribution. He is always planning his next move, whether it is some evil plot, or proper chess strategy. R.D. is not a people person; unless he instigated the conversation, he is likely to ignore others completely. He constantly fidgets and murmurs to himself.

History/Background: R.D was born on the Elven isle of Evermeet long ago among his own race. When he became of age he apprenticed himself to a powerful wizard by the name of Resren Mourn and soon surpassed even his master in potential. Mourn disowned R.D. and cast him out, fearful of the power he may obtain if his training continued. R.D ended up leaving Evermeet to mainland Faerun in order to seek out solitude and a place away from discrimination against his chosen path in the Art. Before long, he found himself in a place called “Kedi’s Killing Ground.” Intrigued, R.D. entered the sanctum and made an unholy deal with Kedi in return for power and glory amongst the populace.

“Mourn your death, friend - for it is not a release from the things I shall do to you.”
- Resren Mourn

RavenDark stole his logo from his long dead master, Resren Mourn. Resren chose a grossly distorted asymmetrical skull with the right side painted black and the left side painted white on a backdrop with reversed colors (white on the right and black on the left) as his Arcane Mark. RavenDark has since adopted it as his Fight Club flag and logo. The colors of the flag represent his absolute dominion over the Art, both good and evil, while the grossly hazy appearance represents his distorted ethical and moral views of the world around him.

And here is the never-before-seen background of Gippedor Barnackle!

Even since he was born,in a small rock gnome farming community in the Silver Marches,Gipp's wild red hair and vibrant green eyes marked him as an oddity. As a child he was frail, and not fit to do farming work, though he was very social and outgoing. While growing up,Gippedor showed a powerful aptitude for magic. At times of great stress strange things appeared to happen around the young gnome. He could move small objects, extinguish candles and change the taste of foods or drinks.Once he managed to produce a tiny flicker of flame, and almost burnt his mother's favorite dress!:D .His father, concerned about his son's future took him with his cart to Silverymoon,to be tested by the mage guild. The kindly old wizard that examined him revealed that he had great magical talent, but the Art could not be taught to him by spellbooks. He had it inside his blood, and in time it would fully surface. At the return trip they were waylaid by two orc bandits. His father was a decent warrior, and he managed to drop one of the orcs, but the second flanked him and dealt him a tremendous blow with his club to Gipp's father's back.At that time of desperation Gipp cast his first spell.Slippery grease coated the ground under the orc causing it to fall.Seizing the advantage,Gipp rammed his dagger down the orcs throat, killing the brute. When the two gnomes reached their village the healer deduced that his father's spinal cord had been so badly broken by the orcish club, that he would not be able to walk again.Gipp vowed revenge to the orcs. Some time later he joined with an adventuring group at Silverymoon, under a mission to exterminate some orcish outpost that threatened the Marches. They passed many adventures together, but they ultimately broke up after the group was almost obliterated by a white dragon.
The rest of the group retired, but Gipp's wanderlust about the world, and especially his hatred about orcs had not been extinguished. His travels have brought him to Kedi's Killing Grounds. He was intrigued to find a place where he could test his mettle and his sorcerous power against other combattants, and so he entered the tournament

Gipp is a gnome of average height. He dresses casually, and he could easily pass up as an ordinary gnome except for his eye and hair coloration. His red hair that are almost continuously unkempt and his vibrant green eyes are a clear sign of the magic coursing through his blood. He is friendly and jovial to most people, but he immediately takes a serious approach of his magic.Anyone taunting his spellcasting will find a very serious and potentially deadly opponent.Although he hates orcs with a passion he is open minded and will allow a particular orc or half orc to prove that he is not a murderous savage as most of his kin.He even had a very good half-orc friend in his adventuring group, that was among those killed by the white dragon. He feels bad about not being able to save him."I've only met half an orc that was worth it,and now he is dead" he says some times.Half joke and half lament for his old friend
