| WotC_RobHeinsoo03-23-04, 09:25 PM | I'm not often in this folder, these days, so I'm not sure whether folks have mentioned the FR stuff in the new D&D minis set, Archfiends. Minis directly inspired by or drawn from the Realms include the following... I listed the rarities for your info, since it may be fairly easy to get hold of the commons and uncommons from friends or game stores, eventually. Commons: Dalelands Militia Soldier of Cormyr Zhentarim Fighter Cultist of the Dragon Uncommons Cleric of Lathander Gold Dwarf Fighter Evermeet Wizard Moon Elf Fighter Dark Moon Monk (Shar worshipping Monk/Sorcerer, naturally!) Rares: Paladin of Torm Champion of Eilistraee (one of my favorite minis ever) Drizzt, Drow Ranger Aspect of Bane Human Cleric of Bane Red Wizard And while I'm thinking of it, Dragoneye, the previous set, had two rares of interest to y'all: the Purple Dragon Knight and the Thayan Knight. Here's the link for the Archfiends gallery... http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mg/20040203a My apologies if this is old news. |
| Darth K'Trava03-24-04, 08:47 PM | That should either make everyone happy or whet their appetites for more.... ;) I think they're kewl! :D |
| The Fury of Ages03-24-04, 09:12 PM | i have 2 starter boxes and about 5 expansion boxes and although some are well painted i find most of them very messy in terms of detail, and overall features, i grabbed mine bc they were lower in cost, for all the PC's i've bought other manufaturer's ones that show better detail and can be custom painted. the last box i got was was a dragoneye one and the drow wizard and warrior were rather featureless in the face, i'd like to see better molding to keep me from buying competitors products that are superior in design. :thumbsdow :headexplo the ones i like the most out of my collection would be my 2 dwarven defenders, and aspect of orcus. they are what i expect in regards to quality of detail.:ayyyy!: |
| Amoun03-25-04, 09:52 PM | hmm the figurines arent very well made... there are some that are pretty good but just look at the unicorn, aspect demogorgon, or the aspect of lolth and those are a couple shoddy pieces of artistry, well that of course is just my opinion... There are also some very well made figurines in that list, cleric of bane, most of the orcs/half orcs, drizzt, and some others... I just wish that Wizards would either fully enter the figurines market with high quality, generally well made figurines or just leave it entirely to other companies... As of yet I've found that many companies provide better figurines at lower prices :) Simple supply and demand wizards :p |
| Brenigin03-26-04, 12:02 AM | Nice, guys. Rob pops in to draw attention to something that may be of interest to FR Fans, and you slag the product line he's been slaving away on for months. Amoun, which are these companies with better figs at better prices? We are talking prepainted minis here. As for the issues of paint jobs, details etc, take it to the Miniatures board where those arguments have been going around for months. Rob, thanks for the heads-up for those non-Minis fans who don't know that there are FR specific minis in Archfiends. |
| Slacker03-26-04, 03:05 AM | People are allowed to have their opinions. They aren't going to appeal to everyone. Check out some of the Confrontation minis from Rackham. Those are some of the best minis made today. That said, I plan on picking up a few boxes of the new set when it comes out. If my luck holds out, I'll have the Drizzt fig. |
| Amoun03-26-04, 02:46 PM | Actually I forgot they were painted... in that case for the price the quality that you are getting is pretty good :) The one figurine that really bugs me though is the Unicorn... thats the only one I have qualms about (well a real deep distaste for). And yeah the Confrontation minis from Rackham are some of the best I've ever seen :d Amoun |
