I was wondering if everyone could write a novel that happens in Faerūn, can everybody? If so I would think they would need a license from Ed Greenwood or someone like. Right? If creating a novel may new races, town/cities be made? First of all if someone is thinking "are you going to write a FR novel?" then my answer is: "I really want to write one." If someone can answer me please answer. Thanks in Advance, Garidas... If I need license, where would I get one (sending e-mail)?
EytanBernstein 07-12-06, 04:36 PM	I would heavily advise against writing any FR fiction in an attempt to sell it. It is a shared world in that different authors write books and stories set in Faerun, but Wizards of the Coast still has all rights. If you want to write for the realms, you can always post a proposal following the writer's guidelines, but it's unlikely that an unsolicited proposal will be looked at. You should consider writing elsewhere first - Dragon, Dungeon, and other magazines - and build up credentials and reputation. When you have some sample publications, you can always propose to write something for an anthology. If they accept that, it's quite possible you may be able to write novels later on. You can't publish FR novels on your own or through other companies. You have to be contracted by WOTC which means that you need to work hard on developing a writing portolio first.
