FR with 3.5 rules? [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-12-05, 08:52 AM Hi all.

Is there any benefit/side effects playing with the 3.5 rules in the FR? I am not very familiar neither with 3 and 3.5. I am more familiar with the 2nd ed but time has changed and I have to move on, also havent played a lot in the past 4 years or so. So my question is should I skip ed 3 and go straight to 3.5? I am asking this since I would like to chek out Eberron also and dont feel like buying both books. Any help would be appreciated:)

05-12-05, 09:17 AM I'd go straight through to 3.5. All products coming out are 3.5. Eberron is entirely 3.5.

Basically (and I know some people disagree), 3.5 is 3.0 with far less errors and mistakes.

05-12-05, 09:29 AM that doesn't really help him with FR in 3.5 basically all the FR are in 3 and i just take out the stuff that i know is in 3 and not 3.5 and change them around to fiit in to a 3.5 game

05-12-05, 10:49 AM the new stuff comming out for FR is 3.5 but the older books like the Magic and the campaign setting are all in 3, so all you have to do is get rid of the stuff that isn't in 3.5 and you are set, it is simple, Alchemy is a skill not in 3.5 but in 3 so take it out, Ambi dex isn't a feet in 3.5 unless i think you get the complete warrior so don't use it, just look at the character sheets fro 3 and 3.5 and take out all the 3 stuff

It would be way simpler to just start playing what most of the other D&D-players are playing, which is 3.5. There's nothing in the FR (any of the books) that can't be easily converted, if at all needed. Don't waste your time with 3.0.

I've got all the 3.0/3.5 FR stuff, I play 3.5, it works out great.

05-12-05, 03:55 PM That is what i am saying 3 isn't that hard to convert into 3.5 and if you are a true FR fan you will do it regardless, nothing should stop the power of FR,

05-19-05, 12:06 PM It is easy enough to download the DnD 3.5 Update booklet to find out the main 3.0 - 3.5 differences.

The Players Guide to Faerun pretty much is the FR 3.5 update - there is an errata to this, as well as a web enhancement.

If you are looking for updates to various and sundry items, the only real way to be 100% sure is to also buy every other FR book and the Complete... books, and then download the Feats/PrCs/Spells document that shows (up through Complete Adventurer) all of the non-FR information that has changed.
