Had this come up in a session last night and couldn't find any information regarding it in the books we had.

We wound up treating it like a darkness spell, just not as big. Any comprehensive rules and where I might find information on it would be helpful!

Can you be more specific about the reference itself? Where did you read about a globe of darkness?

from what I've read about the Drow of Faerun, they are able to produce gloves of magical darkness as an innate ability. I've been unable to find any rules relating to this ability in the FRCS or Races of Faerun book.

In the D&D Monster Compendium they make reference to the drow having "Darkness" as a spell like ability, so I was trying to see what rules for the spell were changed for the Globe of Darkness.

Basically, what does Globe of Darkness do?

I'm still not sure what source you're getting this from, but I think I know what you're talking about. In older versions of the game, that darkness spell/ability is often described as a "globe of unnatural blackness" or something similar. This is especially true in the fiction. It doesn't indicate a separate ability, it's just poetic license.

1x a day they can summon a globe of darkness (like the 2 lvl spell), NOT the greater globe of darkness, (4th lvl spell), Dancing Lights and Faery Fire as an inate ability.
