Good Books? [Archive] - Wizards Community

What are some good FR books out there? For either a good story or good inspiration.

If you mean source books I'd strongly recommend Lost Empires of Faerūn, which has a lot of things that will likely give you inspiration.

The ICEWIND DALE Trilogy.

Sure, they have some rocky spots, and it occasionally seems like a game session as they are splitting credit for kills "with the cat," but that's part of their charm. They are Salvatore at his most enjoyable--long before the preachy long-winded whining of the Dark Elf infinitum. :)

Even if you aren't setting up a game in FR, they are fun, energetic, and worth a few afternoons/evenings of your time.

06-23-05, 12:19 AM I think you misunderstood me; the Icewind Dale books are good reads for what they are. Shakespeare they aren't, but if you want FR material, they are pretty much the best you'll get.

If you want outside the FR setting, do you prefer combat, politics, or heavy magic? And, are you dead set on fantasy? :confused:
