Ya know sometimes there are jsut certain things you need for a good game... and i Dont just mean crunch stuff although you do need that i mean stuff to liven the game and make the world come alive.

For example: When running a game in the dalelands the players stopped at the old skull for some drinks and instead of just giving them the same old "Ale" i made up a drink called Elimensters finest :) and well things grew from there... A whole night af drinking and song about one simple Alchoholic beverage.

(and please pardon my Atrocious spelling, Nvr was good at spelling :D)
(i also think faster then i write and type ;) )

So what i was wondering is if any of you all had ideas for different drinks, foods or even clothing stylesof the realms? or just other things youd like to add for realms culture?

:) hope to hear from everyone soon

i remember an issue of dungeon magazine, sorry cant remember which one at the moment that had a complete random list of meals. one of the things that stuck in my mind the most as both odd and very feesable was boiled eel and potatoes. but as for my own made up nonsence, i had something called "ColdStone's brew" it wasnt really diffrent than any other beer except for the way it was magically cooled to be almost frozen. prepared in magically cooled, dwarven made, stone vats. coincedently i also had an evil dwarven necromancer from that same clan. "Ivar Coldstone" i always did like tieing things in like that.

There are many "Realms specific" drinks and such listed in Arura's whole realms cataloge.
It's worth th $5 download. Sure it is 2ed, but it has almost no rules, so it's easy there.
The few that are there, just think 5% = 1 (a +5% = +1 on a d20)

Thanks for that, ill have to go grab that, although could you offer a website to do so at? and i was actually hoping i could get the people of these boards to add there own two cents for different drinks, food, etc...

So if you have anything for there let me know :)

Also if i can i might try to get all of them compiled once we get a decent amount on here ;)

Sources like Volo's Guide to the North actually give specific "ratings" for various inns' food, comfort, prices, etc. The Volo's guides are all very good for "fluff" like this.

Yeah, you definatelly need Volo's Guide series for those info. You can find guides to Dalelands, Cormyr and North on WotC download page here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads).

You should note that Guide to Dalelands DOES NOT cover Shadowdale because Elminster threatened Volo to make him permanently feebleminded if he wrote anything about Shadowdale.

Thanks for that, ill have to go grab that, although could you offer a website to do so at?

The normal places; SVGames, RPGnow, and Pezio (sp) is also doing this now.
I've not used these sevices myself so I can't say any one is better then the other.

SVGames don't offer TSR PDFs anymore.

And paizo.com has the PDFs at the cheapest price (US$) at $4.00 US.

:weep: I feel uncreative after that long list, but here is a few of my inventions.

Dragon meat. Huge platter of roasted red dragon meat. The near black meat is the hottest.

Orc's Blood Ale: Whooooo boy this'll get ya drunk Fort DC: 16 to start, plus 1 per drink after. Black liquid that is thick, taste like rocks, and burns your throat.

Druid's Nightmare Salad: Shreeded pork, viel, beef, ham bacan. (Basiclly toons of different shreeded meat) mixed together.

Cool, thanks for all the refrences being given out as well as people actually giving some stats as well as some story for the different ale and foods.

If anyone else has ideas keep them coming.

Just a note to keep in mind if you get Aurora's Catalogue (I was fortunate to find a copy on eBay): The prices are somewhat skewed (my DM thinks, anyways) because the value of money changed between editions.. I think a bushel of apples is like 1gp in Aurora's, which would mean that a commoner would need to save up money for what, a month in order to buy it? Same with the prices in Volo's guide.. some inns are like 5gp a night (the lower-class ones!); no one but rich merchants and adventurers (well, and thieves) could afford that. It isn't a big deal, but my DM dropped the prices quite a bit to make them more reasonable.

Well, here's two "homebrew", each has a special place in my player's hearts:

- Lionblack brew, a dark ale (akin to porter) originally brewed by the Black Lion Uthgardt tribe at Beorunna's Well. It is sold only by a merchant named Prudhosk Goldhand. It has a good reputation at Quaervarr's Whistling Stag and at several others inns throughout the Silver Marches.

- Feldys' mushy stew, as my players called it. It is a sweet and sour wild mushrooms stew made by Feldys Oakshadow, a halfling druid they met in Deadsnows. Feldys specializes in all kinds of fungi as my players came to know...

In my eyes, a must-have for every tavern in the Realms is the kind of white wine called Château Migraine. :)
