Hi everybody, I´m kinda hoping for your help.
My group has just reached 32nd level and are (obviously) quite difficult to surprise anymore.
does anybody have any great adventure ideas for a group of this power? I have removed the players from the realms and they are now traveling the planes. I found they were a bit too high-power for even the mighty and ever-wonderful Realms..
Thank.....

There is a rift in the chamber that holds the last 5 Hecatoncheries.. the only thing that can patch it is the skin of a Paragon Behemoth Tarrrasque (the only Tarrasque that can produce offspring). To bad he rules the plane of the Tarrasque, or it would have been easy kill..

Oh, and there is also the problem with the 3 guardians of the Hecatoncheries prison. Made to stop even the greatest god of entering and opening the gates of doom. Lets say.. a Colossus Adamantine Golem, a Primal Quasi Element Acid, and last but not least.. a Ancient Prismatic Dragon.

Also you can have lots of test and such, with riddels and fightes, where only 1 character can fight against some monster to "prove his heart is in the right place" and all that..

Not bad at all!! thanks and keep´m coming!

A little more info on the group:
the group consists of the following:

1) 20th.lv fighter/11th.lv legendary dreadnought/1st-lv barbarian.
2) 31st.lv monk.
3) 28th.lv cleric/1st.lv divine disciple/3rd.lv hierophant.
4) 26th.lv sorcerer/5th.lv archmage.

they are all pretty packed with magic, but not overmuch. they are all human and they have no epic spells.

I did the same thing you did, removed my players from the Realms. Since both I and them like playing in the Realms, I´m considering a little trip there.

Remember the Shades? They´re looking for all kinds of ancient relics and such. Well, now they´re on to something really wild: The Scepter of the Sorcerer-Kings, a Netherese artifact that lets all spells directed at its wielder to rebound tenfold on their casters. Its other powers are Heal/Harm 9/day (2d12 points only, but 1 of these is permanent), automatic Dispel Magic 1/day (this has a 2 in 6 chance of also creating a Dead Magic Area).

The artifacts curse, however, is devastating! For 10 full days from the instant the Scepter is used, the influence from one random deity is banished from the world the user is on! This happens each time the Scepter is used!

This will create big troubles, no matter in what hands the Scepter is in! So, when the PC´s find out the Shades are closing in on this artifact, they can choose to seize the thing for themselves (and face the wrath of the gods and their followers), or they can choose to obtain it and try to destroy it!

The suggested means of destroying (as written in the Book of Artifacts) are:

-Destroy the Scpeter by using it to destroy a god.
-The Scepter is destroyed when the last of the sorcerer-kings (now potent liches) are hunted down and killed.
-The Scepter is destroyed when all the gods forswear any further attempts to involve themselves in the affairs of mortals.

Uh, Fzoul Chembryl has the Scepter of the Sorcerer Kings... Khelben Arunsun stole it to give to him, thus causing the Harper Schism.

maybe some of you can conjure up a city-adventure in the city of Union...? they have been living there for the last couple of game-time years..

WHAT???!!! Khelben gave an evil and mighty artifact away to the high-priest of Bane? I find that hard to belive... Where did you read this???!!

2nd ed supplement Cloak and Dagger. Also wasn't the scepter destroyed later on ? Fzoul died from absorbing the power in it and was resurrected by Bane as his new chosen as far as I can remember.

Not in my campaign :smirk: It´s still buried deeply beneath the desert sands of Anauroch :b:

Yes, the scepter was destroyed and it's remains were shattered through the whole multiverse when Fzoul stabbed the scepter through the heart of a powerfull Banelich.

But it was Xvim who resurrected him, not Bane

Our group resides outside Tezhiir in a castle that the locals built for us. We do our buying in Union, travelling by Gate spells. Plots have included, most recently, dealing with Shar wanting to take over the whole world and taking out those who get in her way. We're to find some sort of "spellfire weilder" child who's supposed to be a key player in this thing. End up sent by our gods to wreak havoc on a stronghold in the shadow plane but this was only a diversion as Shar was able to find the child and use her to take over the world and remove half the good gods from conscious existance in the world.

We find out, don't recall if in game or not, that the child is in the presence of our (the players) low level PCs. And now we've got to find her, again(!), before Shar does... (we've been basically given a second chance).

I don't know how much of this will be resolved this weekend's session..... there's been one lower level PC to meet one of the epic characters and it wasn't exactly the best meeting...... (nothing nasty, tho..)

For some additional plots, some of which might qualify as 'EPIC' you might care to take a look at the nearly 300 listed in the 1001 Planar Adventure Plots Thread (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=119218&perpage=30&pagenumber=1) in the Manual of the Planes Forum.

Erm, Storm walker, Legendary Dreadnought takes +23 BAB to get into.

How in the world did your player manage to do it without at least 23 levels of other classes (and blowing 2 Epic Feats on Epic prowess?).

Normally, you'd need 26 levels at normal BAB progression to enter the class...

In short, there's an illegal character there.

thanks a bunch for all the good ideas and other stuff. Will definetely look into the 1001 plots. Will also look into this illegal character. he has two levels worth of experience points waiting to be used so maybe i´ll force him to take levels in fighter or barbarian. Anyway thanks to all and keep them rolling in all of you mighty mind out there!!!

Always happy to see that a munchkin has to obey the rules.

I'd make him take two levels in Epic Fighter, and blow two feats on Epic Prowess. That should really annoy him.

oh looord.... lvl 32 characters.

If you are out of campaign ideas for these superbeings, take them on one last adventure that will give them a shot at godhood.. lord knows they deserve it at lvl 30+ =P

There is nothing more satisfying for a player than see one of his old characters again in a later campaign =)

To throw them for a loop, a good old fashioned Mordenkainen's Disjunction always does the trick. And if they have means to counterspell such things, work around it: an uncounterable "new" version of the spell, a higher-level caster, etc.. :p

Something else that has, admittedly, saved my keister many times over the millenia: there is always someone out there who is bigger, stronger, faster and smarter than you are. Emphasis on smarter. To me, at that level PCs would not really be engaging in personal encounters or combat in an adventure. They would be controlling vast empires/ organizations (overt or otherwise) through agents, outside groups and other such implements of distruction; more politics and subterfuge than combat and dungeon crawling. Or if they want the combat, use vast armies and planes-spanning wars and battles to get the action in there. Could be a good excuse to get them to start low-level characters (if that is your goal.) Have everybody's new PCs work for the uber-PCs in some way, shape or form. Characters of that level would/could also be very real threats to the gods themselves and I don't think the pantheon would take such a thing lying down- and they have had much more experience with power at this level than the PCs. I don't see the gods directly confronting the PCs, rather using their vast networks of clerics, paladins, blackguards, druids, etc. That's the problem with power: the more you have, the more someone else wants it and the Faerunian gods have time and time again proven themselves to possess such mortal frailties as greed, jealousy and hatred.

You know their characters and exactly what spells, items, etc they have. Besides, if they give you lip about rules, and "you can't do that"... hey, you're the DM. I'm not saying to flaunt your power and take advantage of your position, but by the nature of your position in the game you have a certain amount of creative liscence. Use it. And have fun.

Have you tried the Throne of Bloodstone, and the other bloodstone quests?

How about a 'secret wars' kind of thing- The forces of each of the alignments or good/evil etc... Must send champions to some newly discovered epic plane. This could be a world very early in its development, all of the creatures there are primordial and powerful. Giant advanced Elder elementals, epic dragons, volcanoes popping and tidal waves flowing. They are all in search of some such object, etc....

Maybe the PCs need to settle this world with humans....

If these are Hack-n-Slash players, could always have them get gated to the 666th layer of the Abyss and have fight their way out.
Extra-planar magic to leave doesn't work properly to get out, 24 hours after managing to get out, they are sucked right back in to where they left.
Would make for a very long and brutal trip out.

You could do something similar to the movie The Butterfly Effect (http://www.butterflyeffectmovie.com/) .

They find some artifact that sends them back in time as their 1st levels selves knowing everything that will happen between then and when they went back... at least they think they do. Whenever they take advantage of their knowledge and try to correct what they perceive may have been mistakes they inadvertently change things completely making things worse. Let the device have a limited number of charges and sends them backwards in time.

It'll be a whole new game with things that are familiar but disturbingly and freakishly different as they live out their lives again back to 32nd level.

32+ Hmmmmmmmmmmm...

Send A request from Evereska for them to help destroy the last of the Phaerimm. Who if done right can take out anybody plus get rid of those annoying adventure killing magic items. Also Anything to do with Shade can also handle them and since Shadow magic hasn't been fully researched and is relativly new you can throw unique spells at them. Also remember that the higher level you are the more people notice you(ie the harpers, The Zhents, The cult of the Dragon[ever fight a dracolich with stoneskin oh its funny]oh yeah and the Gods) Remember your the DM don't let them run your campaign. 15level+ characters need to be humbled. I don't belive they should be gods. Oh yeah my final and personal favorite the anti magic shell does wonders.
