| The_Sleeper07-21-03, 07:21 PM | **WARNING!! SPOILER** - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Does anyone else here hope Gromph Baenre gets out of his "imprisonment" and blasts that old Dyrr to the abyss? :smirk: |
| Gellion07-21-03, 09:41 PM | You should put what book the spoilers are for. Gromph is in more than one book series. |
| The_Sleeper07-22-03, 06:33 PM | hehe, oh yea, i knew i forgot sumthin. its for the WotSQ series  . Condemnation to be exact. |
| Azzadar07-22-03, 09:54 PM | I don't hope...I know he will. Gromph is a bad motha... |
| KCDinc07-22-03, 11:40 PM | I dont like the way this was handled. In just about every menzo local book written Gromph has been portrayed as the strongest drow wizard in the city, that no single person could hope to beat him. And then in the span of about a minute, somone does just that. Shoulda been either a much longer battle, or Gromph shoulda been at a much bigger disadvantage. Losing so quickly in his own tower was just...wrong |
| Gibberinghorde07-23-03, 12:47 PM | Well, there are a couple of wizard that are stronger than Gromph in Menzo. The "spider-faced" wizard for one and Dyr is a 20th level Lich from AD&D before the change over. Don't get me wrong Gromph is still extremely powerful but how long has it been that he has actually had to fight anyone. Imagine the amount of rust on his spell-battling ability. I'm just saying that it's not implausible that Gromph could lose. I mean his mother was a freakin powerhouse of a cleric and she was killed by one dwarf king.:D |
| Brynne07-23-03, 01:42 PM | Not to mention that Gromph was almost completely unprepared for such an encounter, whereas Old Dyrr probably went in completely ready for combat... |
| The_Sleeper07-23-03, 03:08 PM | Aye. Gromph is in fact the stronger of the 2, and he probably would have beaten him if Dyrr hadnt imprisoned him. Their lvls are in DDGttU and hes more powerful, but not by much. If he gets out, Dyrr is gonna have to face on very angry wizard. |
| VengefulGazeofGod07-23-03, 04:09 PM | Dyrr is alittle more than a thousand years older than gromph and undead, and probably does not specialize in any school of magic. Gromph's specialty: divination. At the time of the battle, was Gromph not propering for another long seshion of information gathering? |
| Duskblade07-23-03, 04:24 PM | Jalynfein the Spidermage was 24th lvl in 2e, 4 lvl's higher then Gromph. He pretends to be a rather devout and quite insane worshipper of Lolth though. Note that the title "Archmage of Menzoberanzan" doesn't necessarily mean that he's the most powerful wizard. Not everyone wants heat up a piece rock everyday. I'm pretty sure Gromph will escape, I just hope they wont kill off Dyrr. |
| Kindika08-05-03, 07:16 PM | Duskblade brings up a good point: just because you're archmage doedn't mean your the best mage, it just means that you succeeded in killing off any competition ;) I can't see them killing off Dyr. Since no one seems to be in the know about who really runs his house, I'm sure he'll be spared at the cost of "his" matron mother. KE |
