Has anyone tried an Invasion in Faerun [Archive] - Wizards Community

10-19-03, 12:11 PM I was just wondering. I'm starting my invasion in my campaign soon and was wondering what other DM's have done. I'm using the shades as my invasion force. just wondering:D

10-20-03, 05:13 PM yeah, doing one right now. it takes place in the far north/silver marches (right now). The gith have taken control of Sundabar as their base of operations, and have pupet conctrol of Adbar as well, and a presence in half a dozen other cities in the area. Currently the heros (6 level 6 characters) are trying to gleen information by sneaking into Adbars main cididel and trying to recover battle plans from the gith who have taken control of the city's leadership possitions. Having a Githzari in the party is very helpful as well, toexplain to characters what the gith are etc. Once the party is done, they are going to try to make it to Silverymmon and then to Waterdeep o inform and get help. They are about to find out taht a whole bunch of the Epic heros of the realms have dissapeared (not all, but many). I have no intention of killing them, but having the PC's go resque them from where they have been imprisioned will be a major story element starting around level 11-13. It is working pretty well all in all.

10-23-03, 10:36 AM I assume you are going to use the newest type of Battle System rules. Personally, I havent run or played in any such campaign in years, but the old Bloodstone modules and Swords of the Iron Legion are good places to start (not that there arent problems with them, too). Also, the Dragonlance modules are good sources. Running wars in D&D is tough, but extremely rewarding when done right. Good Luck.
