Sheriff Yoda 10-29-03, 08:40 PM	I am starting a Dales campaign soon and have four adventure hooks. Three of them I've had no problem coming up with interesting stuff for, however I have one that is not wanting to give up its secrets to its creator and is being a real pain. Background, the PC's are in the area of Harrowdale Town. The council of seven has commisioned a new road be built inbetween the Cold Field and the forest of Cormanthyor. Work on this road is preceding well until the work crews start disapearing in the area closest to the cold feild and the PC's will be hired to investigate the disapperances. I'm wanting this to be kind of a mystery, so I don't want a simple, oh Orcs are taking them or the Drow are taking them. I want something with meat.
PhilCW 10-29-03, 10:14 PM	A few options: -They are being drawn into the forest by a nymph/dryad/other sylvan creature to scare the humans in abandoning the road. They are treated well, but are under the charms/influence of said beings. -They are accidentally triggering a Fey crossroads and are being teleported somewhere else. -A shambling mound under the control of a cultist of moander is feeding the shamblind mound to grow bigger and bigger as a sort of living tribute to the god. -Anotehr dale, not wanting increased mercantile traffic to diverge to harrowdale is paying the workers, or using other methods to slow down/stop the road construction since the road would hurt their economy. They want to slow things down as much as possible until the next Dales Council where they can officially bring the road to a halt diplomatically, playing on the fears and gaining the support of other dales that might be affected. -Lashan or sympathizers are trying to rebuild an army, and are taking the workers prisoner. -A wanted criminal is on the run, and is taking hostages in case he needs to make a bargain for freedom. -Similar to the above, but an ogre or some other creature is abducting the workers for sustenance.

Sheriff Yoda 10-30-03, 07:23 PM	Must say I like the other Dale idea. Help get my PC's into the politics of the region. Scardale is an obvious choice to do this, but I'm not real sure they would take the chance having just now ended the occupation, they aren't going to want to push another dale very far. Any ideas on which dale could be doing this?
Lashan 10-30-03, 09:31 PM	Gondolga is still out there. He is the guy who created a kingdom that lasted only a few months. It was on the northern borders of Cormyr and also jutted into the Dalelands and parts of Sembia. This guy made everyone else mad by grabbing land that they all ganged up on him. His empire is gone away, but he is still a bandit lord out there somewhere...
Sheriff Yoda 10-30-03, 09:38 PM	Its a possiblity, but why would he be stopping a road construction? I think he'd WANT the road to happen so there'd be more caravan traffic for him to hit.
