Balafre 09-23-07, 04:27 PM	I was watching the serie HBO Rome (by the way, it is absolutely AWESOME!!!!!!) and I wondered if it could be adapted as a D&D Forgotten Realms campaign I guess that a mix of Chessenta/Mulhorand would somewhat fit What do you think of that? any ideas you would like to share? if you watched the serie, which class/alignment would you give to the principal actors :thumbsup:
Sidslick 09-24-07, 04:05 AM	I've seen a couple of episodes when real life has provided the opportunity. For my 2 bucks worth (inflation's hell, isn't it? :)), I reckon that any of the senatorial charactors should be a multiclass mixture of aristocrats and bards or rogues. I also reckon that legionaires should be warriors at low level, and charismatic fighters at higher levels (e.g. decurions, centurions, and officers). Possibly a rank or two in rogue or bard, as well. Of course this is just my opinion! TTFN

I think yes in old empire should be a great place because they allow some slavery and they got old infrastructure & politic similar to rome. I don't have idea but you could make the start of the empire. Like mulholand start to annex the other old empire and continue to the creation of a great empire like the old rome one. For the alignment I think roman are almost all evil. Some of the aristocrat in the council may be good. But the Emperor are evil. Cesar may be chaotic evil fighter of hight level with maybe one or two level in a class more diplomatic. Neron or Nero (don't know in english) could lawfull evil with some bard level & and rogue. You could always make cleopatra...Or Jesus.. It the only two episode I see Nero and Cesar..:)

That look great for the details already compiled like equipement and personnage. That could help for make the Rome in Faerun fighting against other kingdoms.:)
Balafre 09-24-07, 11:12 PM	arrrffff :raincloud I didnt know what Glory of Rome was about until I saw some pictures of the book on google and it reminded me the last books of the previous editions but I aint really good/have the patience to do some rules converting from the Advanced D&D to the 3.5 D&D but I guess that could be used as sources of inspiration basically what I meant is that how could we find a way to create a plot line similar to the serie (I've watched the 2 seasons!) in a world populated by Weave Magicians and Priests who can destroy entire legions by some Maximized fireballs lol I mean whatever strategies Julius Cesar would have used on a field of Gaulis with Druids casting Earthquake on his legions, Rome would not exist in Faerun Also, as you can see in the serie, it is centered around the civil revolution between Cesar, Marc Anthony and Pompei followed with the assasination of Julius Cesar then after the ascension of Octavian Cesar How can treacheries that were very effective in this period of time would be efficient in a world with powerful diviners that can foresee any attempts of assasinations or Priests with Zone of Truth uncovering any lies???:uh-huh: Also, it is true that people would all seem evil because they act as harsh as the times were back then but I think it is only but as slavery is allowed in Mulhorand with Lawful Good players can have slaves, would they be viewed as evil by Harpers for example?? And by what right the views of the Harpers would be more benevolent and good than the ones of a LG Priest of Horus-Re owning slaves? well it is something to think about right?:tie:
Turin71 09-27-07, 03:00 PM	To be able to do a Rome-like setting in D&D it would have to be done in a primitive area. Rome, as graet an empire as it was, was a very old empire in a very primitive time. It would work best if you do a smaller version of Rome in a reclusive area. Have them be the most advanced civilization in a not so advance region. Not too much magic around and not many high level NPCs in the area. Rome was generally a Lawfull Neutral civilization. Verinus was the definition of Lawfull Neutral while Pullo was more Chaotic Neutral yet still a most loyal companion to Verinus. Pompey, Cesar, Octavian, most of the senators. All these guys were Lawfull Neutral as well. They just had no notion of what was good or evil they all just did what they believed in their harts was what needed to be done. I loved the show and would like to see it again. I just can't bring myself to put up the $99.99 per season to buy it....
