| AznLyte06-25-03, 05:28 AM | Hey everyone, I don't post much, but I had a question that I was wondering if anyone with more experience could answer. You see, I was curious why in Faiths and Pantheons, that the Heartwarder PrC has a prereq of Spell Focus (Enchantment), but then later gains Voice of the Siren, which also gives Spell Focus (Enchantment) and Spell Penetration for vocal components. If they only wanted to give Spell Penetration, wouldn't it just say so? I don't understand the redundancy. I looked for an errata for Faiths and Pantheons, but I haven't found it. Does anyone know the answer or how to contact the authors of the books? Thanks in advance. -Kael |

| AznLyte06-26-03, 12:54 AM | Thanks a lot. You were a great help. Another question, if you have time. The spellsinger spellsong ability states that the DC for the spellsong is enchantment lvl + cha + 2. Is it supposed to be that way? I don't understand why spellsongs would have lower DC's than regular spells, which have DC of enchantment lvl (if enchantment) + cha + 10.... Also, what does 1/8th elven blood mean? Does it mean you have to be half-elven? or can you be human with 1/8th elven blood? The PHB makes it sound like you can just be human, but... I dunno. Anyway, any help would be awesome. Thanks! -Kael |
| Tempus66506-26-03, 05:25 AM | The book does say that the DC is Cha modifier + Enchantmentīs level + 2, and I agree this is kind of low. Itīs probably because you can spontaneously cast any enchantment (of one or more levels lower than the highest on your spell list). As a DM, I would houserule this, so that the DC is a bit higher. Instead of +2, Iīd say +8 (maybe even +10). Maybe itīs a typo though, maybe the book means 10 + (and then what it says). Itīs up to the DM I guess. 1/8th elven blood: 1/2 means half-elf (one of your parents was an elf), 1/4 means that one of your grandparents was an elf, and 1/8 means that a parent of one of your grandparents was an elf (one of your grandparents was a half-elf). |

You're a human, but your Elven lineage isn't too many generations removed from yours. You don't have any special racial abilities or anything if you're 1/8th Elven, unless your DM is pretty lenient & passes along the Elven Blood trait, or something of that nature. |
| PostMortem07-18-06, 10:43 PM | I have another question about the Heartwarder. The class obviously lends it's self best to a charisma based class aswell as a cleric, for example, cleric/sorc due to the charisma increases. So, my thought was, make a character with more sorc levels and gain the spell levels (from heartwarder) in that class. However, I read something online that says that you can only choose cleric or druid for the increased spell levels and that when you gain the spells per day, in adition you don't learn any more new spells wth these increased spells per day (from heartwarder). Now, that doesn't make sense to me because no where in the FaP description of the class does it say you have to choose to level the spells in cleric, it simply says it has to be the highest spellcasting class you have. Also, if it didn't automaticly imply that you "learn" new spells (such as how a sorc or cleric would learn spells at new levels) then what would be the point of gaining spells per day? you would be able to cast high levels spells but not know any to cast, thus only being able to use the spell slots for lower level spells or metamagic feats. **just realized this should be in the "class" subsection, but, seeing as how it's an old post... |
| ClobberinTime07-19-06, 06:49 PM | I don't remember seeing anything saying that the spellcasting levels have to be in druid or cleric. The major problem with becoming a heartwarder is that it uses up 4 feats, so you pretty much have to multiclass into fighter to get Dodge and Mobility. |
| Alediran07-20-06, 09:13 AM | Heartwarder is a Specialty Priest for Sune Firehair, that is why this PrC only aplys (sp?) for divine spellcasters. |
| Ripe07-20-06, 01:31 PM | Heartwarder is a Specialty Priest for Sune Firehair, that is why this PrC only aplys (sp?) for divine spellcasters. Requirements are only 3rd level spells, so it also apply to arcane casters. |
| GothicDan07-20-06, 01:58 PM | Yes. Who needs lore and flavor?! ;) Let us go with mechanics! Good thing 3E made mechanics so much clearer, that we can interpret what may or may not be a mistake as canon lore.. *Cough* Note: This isn't directed at anyone on this thread, mind you. :) |
