Help me brainstorm [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-27-03, 07:03 PM What if something existed in the Realms in an ancient (and I mean ancient) era? Before Netheril and the other ancient human empires. Before the elven and dwarven empires. Perhaps even before the introduction of some of the creator races. Something . . . uh . . . "not good" to say the least and lost or forgotten (nearly). Where could PCs find clues to its existence?

I was thinking Larloch or the Shades might possess some snippets of information. Maybe elven writings or wild elven oral histories could provide clues. Imaskari ruins even?

Tell me what you think. Give me some ideas. And don't say "Go to Candlekeep and read 'Bad Things We Probably Shouldn't Have Forgotten Vol. I'." That would be too easy.

Although I'm not against the PCs using Candlekeep as a resource, I just don't want all the answers to be in one place.

Nether scrolls, not only magic, history of magic and the weave, hoe it was created etc, only one stolen by elves exists.

Elven High Magi Lore; sun elves jealously protects their both historical and magical lore in evermeet, the elven only land.

Candlekeep is just a popular place,

the library of cormanthyr, great archive

08-29-03, 09:57 AM What could be cool should be oral history in goblinoīd races. Not the orcs, they are too recent. I would say the goblins themselves, or the kobolds. The giants or very ancients too, they could be a good source for such knowledge.

Is this ancient evil slowly aweking? This way, depending on where it is situated, a druid or a gnome who regularly speak with animals could learn it. Legends from sailor could be a good source too.
