"Can it be....I am beaten? Yes, I see now that you are not the inferior blood Half-Moon Elf. I wanted to be master of Evermeet and ruler of Faerun but that is not my destiny. You have destroyed my armies, revealed my treacheries, and finally you have killed me. Let it be known that even if you are despised by your elvish brethren that you are better than them all. They would have made me King and yet....before you, I am nothing."
-Gandorf Durothil's last words

Well my current Forgotten Realms campaign has finally come to an end with the big final showdown on Evermeet. The game was a massive multi-story arc that had the Daemonfae, Kymil Nimesin's Gold Elf Conspiracy, and the Eldreth Veluuthra all linked together by a mammoth conspiracy that was designed to bring its mastermind to the throne of Evermeet. It was an extremely 'elvish' game that I'm quite proud of even as a lot of the central idea was from time memorial (evil manipulator controls outside factions to slowly increase his power). The game ended with the enemy ascending to Lichdom as a last ditch effort to cast a ritual to destroy all of the elves and raise them as undead in his final (and quite insane) hope of controlling the land in some form.

Quite epic huh? Well here's the problem, the players want to continue on still. I don't want to just drop the previous campaign threads and just move on to another location but instead build a storyline about the reprocussions amongst the Elven Race.

In this case, they've been utterly and completely saved by a band of human elf-friends (that the Nimsen family also waged all of their political cloat in framing for the horrible atrocities that were conducted against the elves---and rather unfortunately have since been proven to be lies). The eldest son of the Durothil family in my game has further been proven the blackest traitor. Also, the corruption of the Starym Moonblade has been revealed (with said eldest son wielding it even as a Lich). This is probably less embarrassing than one of the heroes wields a Moonblade and is a half-elf.

(I was perfectly willing to write off the character as an Arilyn Moonblade rip off save as a male but I can't argue he certainly earned his character stripes)

I have some vague character threads to go on with the Durothil Family deciding that they have to do SOMETHING grand to redeem their collective family honor. Also, possibly some wanting revenge even as their pride and joy has been struck down before them. It's even more interesting that Gandorf was struck down by his own half-brother.

There's also the forbidden love angle that I inserted between the now awake first Daughter of Evermeet and said Half-elf Moonblade wielder (Akkanas if you need a name to address him by). Given the Queen's disturbing treatment of her granddaughter Arilyn, I can only imagine the utter venom she might view this issue. There's an angle there to pursue.

(The other players had less emotional involvement in the final confrontation than Akkanas had but their own very emotional story arcs were wrapped up in previous adventures)

Any advice or comments are welcome.

-I'm very busy right now, but I'll get back to you later. That is why I am posting- so I don't forget to. But, from what I read, it sounds like a pretty good storyline. And, it involves Tel'Quessir, so that's another bonus in my eyes. Well, like I said, I'll comment more in depth later!

Have the Durothil ask the Seldrine for advice on how they can recover the familiy honor. And then have the Seldrine send them on a quest for either the Artblade or Warblade. With a elven army at myth Dannar and a return of the Elves the Seldrine probably feels that it is high time the Elf blades are return to the elven people. If the Durothil can restore the Elfbaldes back to the people or even have one of thier members be able to wield one of the elfbaldes that will more then restore the Honor of the Familiy as whole.

Followeing that idea, as they go recovering one of those legendary blades, let them search and fight for it for a long time, only to discover that the blade has been recovered by one of the Halruaan high mages(maybe Zanathorn?) Well, elves want the blade, however they cannot fight against halruaa as it is quite powerful and they don't really have any right to ask for the blade.

You can use someone else, instead of Halruaa, but i mean: let the blade be already recovered by a powerful person/organization, well seen and respected by other countries, and they simply don't trust the elves enought to give them the artifact.

What will they do?

If the Elves ever discover the artblade or warblade in the hand of another country. Either that person/organization/country return it or else Evermeet and the elven will declare war. They wil do the covert operation first and if that doesn't work, Evertmeet will declare a full scale war. And I don't see how Elves don't have any rights to ask for it back, like I said it is a major Elven Aritfact.

There is also not that many powerful and respected organizations and person who can hope to hold on to the Elfblades under a concentrated attack by a circle of Elven High Mages.

One can see it this way:

It's the same thing as their claim on cormanthyr. I agree that they have rights on the mythal and the city but why should they ge the surrounding forests? I mean, they LOST them, they got defeated by an invading army. You lost the artblade. I recovered it at a great cost of efforts, defeating a demon lord. And now you come to me and DEMAND the artblade? Well, no.

As the war declaration, i suppose i agree. The problem is, the elves can generate an unpleasant feelings among other human nations, especially if they attack a country of merchants, like Sembia. As for Halruua, it would be a nice struggle i suppose, it has no real allies but has an especially strong army and magic, and it's maybe THE country of mystra.

They lost Cormnthyr but they still retain the elven forest uptill about 2 human generation ago when they left for Evermeet. But to a elf 2 human generation is nothing.

Humans are not a monolothic society. If evermeet declare on some random human country down south, i doubt anyone in the north would care.

- Sembia, is a land of merchant, people don't like merchant and if someone in Sembia came into posession of any of the Elfblades. Evermeet could probably buy it back form them. And a threat of Elven piracy to disrupt Sembia's sea trade routes would probably force Sembia to force whoever has the elfblade in possession to sell it back to Evermeet.

- Halruua, while it would be a epic struggle betwen Evermeet and halruua. I doubt it will get that far. Zanathorn is too smart to keep any of the Elfblades. Even if halruua can defend itself against Evermeet, the cost would be horrendous and not worth the effort. Most likely Zanathron would use the elfblade as dipolamotic gift to repair Halruua's relationship with the elves.

The most inresting scenrio would be if Halastar came in possession of the Elfblade. You can't march into undermountain and expect any fo them to come back out. attacking it with High magic is also out of the question as Waterdeep is ontop of undermountain.

:D :D :D You are a genius

I think there's no one among the elves that could enter undermountain and hope to get the blade. Halaster is nearly immortal down there, thanks to his 12 wishes and thousand other nasty surprises.
