So, I am coming back to D&D after a nice year long break, and am really pumped for a game in which I will be playing. Here is a DM description of the game.

"The Evil Mercenaries

Somewhere on the plane of shadows is a mercenary company of very good ill repute. Run by a council of creatures said to have spawned from the first time a gate from the plane of shadow touched the realms of evil, this mercenary company does its best to perpetuate evil in any way it can and to make as much profit as they can while they do it.

The company recruits on all the planes, finding those most evil and twisted people to recruit to its cause, first offering money and power, then threats and fear and finally, all else failing, binding those who are unwilling with magics and curses.

The party is a new group that has been put together by this company. Their liaison with the council is a lich by the name of Gredmech, one of the mages of an ancient Faerunian kingdom that has long since been forgotten.
The party will be teleported between their jobs by their boss the lich; one mission might be to assassinate a prominent mage in Candlekeep, the next might be the destruction of a library in Evermeet, the third could be the recruitment of a sneak-thief in Waterdeep. The group will be paid well in both gold, equipment and spell-casting."

Just in case your wondering the game is ECL 8.

So, after talking out with the DM I came up with a character idea that both he and I approve of, and both are willing to work with to play. This character, is however more than a but complicated and I am having troubling pulling it off. The first session is not for a couple weeks, so I still have time to tweak my character or the background behind him. Well, here is the general idea behind him, you'll have to omit to overuse of "Him" and "He" as one of the problems I am having is thinking up a good name.

He was once one of the most feared Dragons in all of Faerun, his name causing people to quake, bards sung epic tales of his destruction, the havoc this Greater Wyrm wreaked. For close to two millenniums, he sought ruin and destruction down upon the civilizations of faerun, seeing great people and kingdoms come into being, and seeing them fall, outliving them all.

As the centuries passed, and his treasure hoard grew, He began to ponder and toy with the idea of Immortality. Of course he was long lived, and loved every day and minute, but he was no where near immortal. This was only further proven when he came up against the king of Gold Dragons, barely escaping with his life.

In the wake of the year of Rogue Dragons, in which he fell into a deep slumber, his age and treasure hoard keeping him firmly in his lair, he awoke to a different world. His body was unaffected by the disease, his treasure still just as pretty, but he knew fear, real fear, for the first time in centuries.

Now, he began to devote all of his time to a singular obsession, obtaining immortality. Naturally, this would lead him rather quickly to the cult of the dragon. He toyed with the idea of becoming a Dracolich, but found the idea of dying to become immortal rather foolish, and against the point.

Searching out another way, he is soon assualted by dreams and visions. It seems the god Tiamat, of the evil dragons, has laid his eyes on this powerful red dragon. These visions show immortality, as an Avatar of this god, to be gained through the destruction and retrivel of something. It seems Tiamat wanted a Shrine to Bahamut, the god of good dragons, and to Hieronous, to be destroyed. In this place there was also an artifact of unspeakable power, which Tiamat coveted for himself.

Taking his chance, he swooped down on the city in which these shrines were located, using his considerable power to wipe the town from the face of Faerun. In the smoking ruins, he managed to find what Tiamat so wanted, a powerful orb that would allow one to control any Metallic Dragon one would encounter.

This orb, and the power it possessed, made him giddy with the possibilities. No longer was he solely convinced with the idea of immortality, but of ever lasting power over his metallic brothers.

Taking this orb back to his horde, the ardor of both Tiamat and the forces of good, he began his ultimate plan. Spending his immeasurable wealth, each coin a knife to his ego, the great Dragon began to collect other powerful magic items, hoping in to some way combine them and gain this power and immortality at the same time.

However, he had caught the eye of the Harpers, his control over metallic dragons worrying them greatly. This would boil down to an epic confrontation between the now incredibly power Dragon, the items making him almost immortal, and Elminster ((excuse the poor spelling here)) on the plain of chaos and limbo.

The unleashing of raw magical energy, and the epic battle between the two, sunders a rift in the plane, causing the power to backlash on the two. The mage is sent back to the mortal plane, wounded and tired, but the ultimate winner.

The dragon, well everyone thinks he is dead. Bards now sing of his demise, tell the tales of this epic fight. Unbeknown to anyone but a powerful and secretive mercenary he lives on, the plane of chaos changing and warping his form into a far more mortal human body.

Walking amongst mortals, his power all but stripped, this former dragon is now ****** and greedy, looking for some revenge and an excuse to burn and destroy.

Working for this merc guild seems his best course of option, considering he will be paid to burn, loot, and maim for a living, as well as stop the guild from informing the Harpers and or Tiamat followers of his continued existence. He also still hopes to once again regain his form and the power with it, at any cost.

I am playing a lvl 8 Sorcerer, with a lot of Draconic Heritage feats. My main question is, is this feasible? Does it sound reasonable and like it makes some sort of sense in the forgotten realms world? Also I desperately need two names, his draconic name and his human one.

Any ideas, thoughts, opinions?

I am not an Realms expert but the concept seems to fit more or less. A small mistake I found is that Hieronous does not exist in the Realms. Make that Tyr or whatever.

The plot itself looks ok, after all Tiamat did indeed do something like what you described with Tchazzar. You could say that making him her chosen was only after you failed (Might lead to some time problems).
Such artifacts to control dragons also do exist (Orbs of Dragonkind).

A problem I see is that according to your backstory you would have very high knowledge skills which your PC would lack but that is probably only a minor thing.

Ooh, ooh. If I was the DM of this campaign I'd let your character believe he was a dragon in his past life. Not a problem. Having Elminster as an archenemy is not the best career move though. I'd change that to another (unknown) archmage. Also your party members should be hoping you wont be affected by the dracorage during the Year of Rogue Dragons.
