Help with Drow campiagn [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-19-06, 01:53 AM Hi I am thinking about starting up a campaign where all the pcs start in menzo and go threw the academy to scouting the tunnels to thier rightful spot in thier family. Not shure what all to do yet still throwing ideas around and would like some input and help on how to do this. Timeline wise i want the pcs to go threw melee magthere at the same time as Drizzt did. (all the players know and love drizzt so to put them up against him will be fun i think). And have them be the other memebers of his scouting group that he patrols with. Have them run threw the encounter with Belware, the raid on the surface, attack on blingdestone and Mithral Hall, and later on the silence of Lolth and the attack on Menzo.

My questions are what levels, and age should they be when they enter melee magthere or sorcere or arac tinilith, and what levels and age should they be when they finish. (player wise i'll have 3 guys and 3 girls playing in this, not shure what kind of classes they'll want to make thier characters yet)
Just looking for some general tidbits on how to do this if anyone else has, and maybe some side adventures to make them run.

My other question is would Ryld be a master at melee magther at this time or would this be the time he is was away from menzo, if not would he and Drizzt of meet?
Also would Liriel Baenre be around at this time in sorcere or arac tinilith?

-The average initiate entering the schools is age 18 or 19, though I think I may be wrong. They spend about 9 years in the three schools. That I know I am correct on. Obviously the Menzoberranzan Box Set, and the RAS novel Homeland are going to have more accurate and detailed information.

My other question is would Ryld be a master at melee magther at this time or would this be the time he is was away from menzo, if not would he and Drizzt of meet?.

-It's possible. Ryld was really created and fleshed out for the WotSQ series. There's nothing stopping you from installing him as a master of Melee-Magther.

Also would Liriel Baenre be around at this time in sorcere or arac tinilith?

-Liriel is only about 40, according to the Heroes Lorebook. Drizzt is about 140, again, according to the Heroes Lorebook. They are both dated ages, but it shows that, in age, the two would not be in the acedemies together. In fact, Drizzt was already gone by the time Liriel was born.

03-19-06, 10:36 AM Depending on what school they go to depends on when they actually enter

Melee Magthere they enter at the age of 20, and they stay a whole of ten years.

Sorcere they enter at the age of 25 and they stay for 30 years.

Arach Tininilith they enter at the age of 40 and they stay for a whoping 50 years.

All of this information can be found in Homeland and Menzoberranzan boxed set.

and believe it or not i'm actually running a drow campaign based in menzoberranzan.

I thought Drizzt was more along the age of 70-76. He is very young for a elf of his level. If i remember right he was born in 1297 or something like that.

-A number of RPG Web-Sites sell 2e Box Sets and Modules as Adobe Acrobat Reader files (.PDF). They usually go for download at about $5.00 each. As for what sites sell what, I'm not sure. You're just going to have to search them yourself.

-I am sure that Liriel participated in some fashion at her graduation ceremony. My memories are slightly foggy, but there was a short story about Liriel Baenre in Realms of the Underdark. Liriel was featured in a story, participating in some kind of hunting ritual, or ceremony. Go check it out to get the exact, concrete details.

03-20-06, 08:20 AM When I read the books about Liriel she only spent a short time at the academy and then she had to flee because of the windwalker even her own father was after her her father paid for most of her training privatley through other masters till she was forced to go to arac tinilith and drizzt is only 70-80 years old one time when i was reading the books i acctually added up how old he was but can't remember now. Good luck on your campaign.
