Barthalas 10-12-07, 11:22 AM	Understanding the basic story - Check Getting the party started with Chapter 2 - Check Moving on to Chapter 3 - Check Chapter 4 - Here where my problems start. My issues are the following: 1. Using the portal to get to Belkram's Fall So where exactly does this deposit you? You have this nice spiffy map but no mention of where on it it puts you and/or what your arrival destination looks like 2. Guard Stations. Does the first lift go down to a platform which covers the whole Lava Tub or is there some unmentioned landing which connects stations A, B & C. There's like a one sentence mention of a landing connecting G, H & I but nothing about up top. 3. Skeletal Scaffold. So, just what the heck is keeping the platforms up? By the map, they are not connected to the walls and each platform has a retractable ramp so that's not doing it. Is it just some magic they never mentioned? 4. Dwarf Temple So you get the lift working again and head down to the temple but where does it stop? Is the temple entrance built into the side of the lava tub? 5. Overall Story Is this Chapter really needed to the overall story? I mean, is there anything you get (item, information, etc) which is required to move on to Chapter 5 ? (which does continue the main story) I'd love to tie a vision to this chapter in some way. I was thinking of giving one of the PC's a vision of Belkram's Fall and also put a copy of Belkram's story/legend in the Crypt of Yeldoon. Any thoughts on that? That's enough for now. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Shiftkitty 10-13-07, 09:59 PM	Just one. Have you been DMing long? I'm not trying to be snotty, but I've seen many published adventures that leave silly little details out, like where you start. Wing it. I just find a suitable place and let the suckers, er, players start there. As we're just about to start Belkram's Fall, I haven't read through the whole thing yet. Is it possible you may have missed something in the text? I've done that, speed-read too far ahead of myself and miss a critical sentence. Of course, I've got my own set of tweaks I have to do to Undermountain, as I have a drow and a dwarf in the party. Changing all those drow to doppelgangers, ugh! The drow is delusional* and the dwarf is a shameless opportunist (along with his buddy the halfling, they plan to rob the drow as soon as this mission is over), the half-elf wizard is ducking a loan shark, and only the paladin is holding the team together. *Borrowing from "Dezzavold: Fortress of the Drow" from Green Ronin Games, this male drow took a hit in the head during a surface raid and had a vision of that setting's "Lady of Mysteries" who claims to to be "the Spider Queen's mother". Now answering a higher call (he believes), he's setting off on a quest to unite the drow nation under their "original goddess" and hopefully redeem the race. Yyyyeah. Meanwhile, a god of dark mischief is giggling with glee...
Barthalas 10-13-07, 10:40 PM	Just one. Have you been DMing long? Only about 20 years. That seems long for some but maybe not for others. My reasons for posting was to see if I had missed something or to share ideas with others who have read through things. I've reread it a dozen times or so but it's still possible that I am missing the same things over and over.
Shiftkitty 10-15-07, 10:27 AM	We've been DMing about the same amount of time, and I consider my duration bragging rights:) . I finally read all the way through the text last night and no, it doesn't say where the platform deposits you. This gives me two ideas. Either A) it comes level with the guard stations and you just hop across, or B) stop the platform just out of range and let them jump (or fall to some serious damage if they don't get dubiously 'rescued' by the grell) or find some other way across. I've got to get to work, but I'll pour through it again just to see I've missed anything. I'll get back to you on the other stuff.
