hfolkense 05-23-04, 08:25 PM	One of my fellow players wants to start a new gnome cleric, but i am not quite sure how to create his background bio (he is starting at 1st level) the guy doesn't know anything about FR and i dont have that much time to getting the bio done before the next session. Could you guys help me with some advices or tips? You know, the basic stuff, like country, deity (he wants good and trickery) and a reason to be in weatherdeep at the time of the campaing wich starts near to shieldmeet. i would be very thankful if you can help me in any way. How would you do a 1st level (good,war) Gnome Cleric?, i am aware gnome clerics are not that common.

Anytime you have an uncommon race/class pairing, you can have the character be an outcast; this would probably lend him the Chaotic Good alignment. All you'd have to do then is come up with a reason why his people cast him out, and then you can say that he is in Waterdeep to find an employer (as a mercenary, perhaps) or maybe to join in the celebration during Shieldmeet.
Damien_Hiro 05-26-04, 09:13 AM	I really do not think a gnome cleric is a strange pairing. He could be a worshipper of Gond traveling to waterdeep to show off his wares or investigate new ones. Garl Glittergold is probably the best deity for your character, he has both good and trickery domains. I do not think he would be an outcast, especially with a race where bards are their favored class. He could be a wandering priest or he could be on his last outting before he takes over the fulltime priest duties of his town. Gnomes are such a great race to play. I would have him from latan, silverymoon or even all the way from the dragonjaw mountains. He could be an undead kobold slayer! The possibilties are endless. Hope that helps a little.
Valgard 05-26-04, 09:45 AM	Baravar Cloakshadow, the gnome deity of rogues, and Garl Glittergold are both gnome deities with good and trickery domains, and Sharess also has those domains too. For a gnome cleric with good and war domains there is Gaerdal Ironhand, the gnome deity of war and combat, but you can also use Tyr. For a gnome cleric of a non-gnome deity, you could make him from any human land with gnome population, such as the north, but I think it's not too much interesting. Garl is the patron of gnomes so he (and his clerics) may like to make a wandering "bard's" life (as it's the gnome favored class). I'm not very good inventing stories, so maybe a Baervan's or Gaerdal's cleric can be looking for some strange magic item, just for robbing it or for using it to defend a village...
hfolkense 05-26-04, 11:01 PM	GREAT!, now i revised the book and the solution that i came with was the same as the one damien gave me, i usually dont like railroading roleplaying but this guy is happy, it is the first time a give backgroung to a PC and i wont do it anymore if i can help it but this one went perfectly ok, thank you guys for an amazing help.
