Witchqueen 06-29-03, 07:17 PM	Every now and then, someone asks if there are official stats for Telamont Tanthul or Larloch. Often, someone wonders why the Simbul bothers with ten wizard levels that mainly retard her sorcerous progress. Occasionally, someone points out that Storm Silverhand and Drizzt Do'Urden are actually rather poorly designed as both must suffer heavy xp penalties due to uneven classes. I asked Andy Collins if the major FR npc would be receiving 3.5 updates, and his reply was that there hadn't been room for it in the books (I knew in advance that he wouldn't disclose information on unannounced releases). He did, however, say that converting npcs from 3.0 to 3.5 should be a quick and easy task for the DM (while I appreciate his efforts, I didn't believe that statement one bit). This leads me to the conclusion that we need a Heroes and Villains of Faerūn supplement that stats out all the major npcs and a selection of minor notables as well. I would like to see Elminster, Khelben, Drizzt, Scyllua, Larloch, Halaster, the Zulkirs, the Seven Sisters, the Princes of Shade, Manshoon, Fzoul and perhaps even some of the Harpers, members of the Sorority of Silverfire (which has been shamefully neglected since 3rd ed. came out), and mages of the Twisted Rune and the Arcane Brotherhood of Luskan. Who's with me?

Dargoth 06-29-03, 07:52 PM	I suggested this a while ago on the old novels board although my origional idea was to do a 3ed Heros and Villains lorebook for the authors characters, I also suggested that the authors write the story for the character (At the risk at beating a dead horse: Wulfgars write up in the Silver Marshes) ie Elaine Cunningham would write Arilyn Moonstone, RAS would write up Drizzt etc Now considering WOTC have just changed the D&D rules to 3.5 thus making the old 3.0 character stats out of date, I suggest they do a big boook of relams personalities including the NPCs from Silver Marshes/FRC (ie Elminster/SimbulFzoul) etc but also include authors characters like the WOSQ characters etc

Qevelias 06-30-03, 06:04 AM	I just think this 3.5 is a big marketing trick and that the good people of WotC should listen more to the players demands , work harder on that and eventually bring out 4th edition with which we'd all be happy !

ElGrecoETAC 06-30-03, 11:23 PM	I'd buy it, but I wouldn't expect to finally get a book with accurate NPCs. Last I checked, the 2E Heroes' and Villains' Lorebooks were rife with errors (one novel villain, Kymil Nimesin, who casts more magic than almost all the other main characters combined, is listed as a straight fighter :rolleyes:). The FRCS didn't fix the problem. Why should this book, when it's based on yet newer rules? Everytime I get a product like this (and I'd buy another one if the art is of a high caliber), I fully expect to to some major changes on my own. Oh well.

Herr Doktor 07-01-03, 12:07 PM	Yea... that Wulfgar thing was pretty sick. I would definetly purchase the book described above... as long as the stats made sense! Personally, I'd like to see some fleshed out underlings as well. My group doesn't encounter the big fellas too often. Lords of Darkness covers a lot of the underlings, I suppose. But there've got to be some of note or particular talent that they could include!
Academa 07-04-03, 05:27 AM	ive never seen a group of players happier than my group when they defeated that Shade example at the back of FR campaign setting. Just the fact that they killed someone whom Wizards had pictured and stuff. Although i think that i could do the NPCs my self or find them written by others on the internet.
Gadodel 07-04-03, 04:04 PM	I like the idea and would buy the book. BUT .... Do you think we fans could agree on how each character was done? I have seen elaborate processes undertaken for characters in E.C.'s Novels...and those characters can be seen in character profiles in the Novel's section. They are considered "official". I believe that there are some characters that have appeared in Dragon that are also considered "official". However, what about the main characters? I mean the Great Heroes and The BBEGs!!! Example: IMHO: Elminister should be as follows= Aristocrat 3 Cleric 5 Wizard 15 Archmage 5 Loremaster 10 Thoughts?
