| Master Sylvius09-07-06, 04:16 PM | Anybody know where I can get the info? |
| Old Sage09-07-06, 10:35 PM | You can find details about the selu'kiira (or high lore gems) in the C:EoE supplement. The associate adventure module Fall of Myth Drannor contains a few more notes on both types of gems as well. Both are freely available for download here:- http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads Additionally, you can also find a few tidbits about the elven lore gems when Elminster has a brief encounter with a kiira in the early stages of Elminster in Myth Drannor. We also have the Mhaorkiira (‘Corrupt Gem’) -- though the Mhaorkiira is only a corrupt, evil kiira stone (see Elaine's Dreamspheres). |
| Lord Karsus09-08-06, 08:50 PM | -There are also the Qu'Kiira, or 'Binding Gems', which are tied to mythals. |
| GothicDan09-09-06, 01:08 PM | Well, at least a few mythals. |
| Lord Karsus09-12-06, 07:43 PM | -Well, Myth Drannor's, anyway. |
| The Simbul09-13-06, 12:43 AM | Kiira, or lore gems, along with the rules for crafting them can be found in Magic of Faerun. They give the wearer a bonus to knowledge checks and can act as an alternative type of spellbook. Telkirra, or greater lore gems, along with the rules for crafting them, can be found in Lost Empires of Faerun. They give a bonus to INT and Will saves, act as an alternative type of spellbook, have ranks in mental skills, can store memories, and are generally unusable to elves and can be "locked" so that those not of the house of the owner/creator can use it. Selu'kiira have not been given game statistics in the 3E rules, although one of the ruling blades of Cormanthyr (again, in Lost Empires of Faerun) is suppposed to have one mounted in it, and the blade grants a +10 bonus to spellcraft checks. Lastly, the Players Guide to Faerun has the game rules for the Kiira N'Vaelar, which were created for Myth Drannor's spies, and unlike the aforementioned three, they do not act as spellbooks but rather serve to record events and to aid the spy in their tasks. |

I put no creedence in that, and say it is a mistake made by WotC somewhere along the line. |

| herceg12-13-07, 10:38 AM | ...and are generally unusable to elves Are you sure? (sorry, surely it's a typo-ish-ness) EDIT: I know it's a quite old thread, but I searched for info on kiira, and couldn't resist to be... irritating. |
| Alediran12-13-07, 10:47 AM | Except that the function of the Selu'Kiira is to share Elven High Magic (epic spells) with their bearers, and/or transform them into an Elven High Mage, and/or possess/destroy an unworthy bearer. Then we can use the rules for the Tel'Kiira to make a Selu'Kiira with more things, for example the capacity to store High Magic Spells that can be learned by it's user without paying any cost. Also giving experience points/"training" so an elf can take the Elven High Mage PrC without having to be aproved by a circle of Selu'Thaar. It should also have a high Will Save to avoid the possesion/destroying effects if the elf is not an intended reciever (like Araevin, after becoming Half-Celestial thus removing what made him a Draldrageth). |
