how to splat Menzoberranzan? [Archive] - Wizards Community

after reading starless night (i think, correct me if im wrong please) i wondered if you could improve on Catti Bries method of temple smashing, she blew a big stalactite off the roof of Menzoberranzan so it crashed through the temple of lolth, well, would it be possible, theoretically, to collapse the whole menzoberranzan (or any other subterranean cuty i suppose) cavern. it would take a while but i think that some wizards with rings of nondetection and rings of invisibility, and other stealth oriented gear,
could use disintegrate spells to carve another chunk out of the the cavern roof big enough to crush the entire city

would it work, i figured they might get scried or encounter a drow patrol so that's why theres all the stealth gear

thoughts on this anyone?

providing you can survive long enough or not be detected any cavern is quite capable of being collapsed

not sure what alignment your party is but perhaps you could get some help from the duegar who could provide you with explosives to help with it

sufficiently weaven the cavern roof with magic and then set off the explosives

08-05-03, 12:43 PM I've always though that, with liberal use of the stone-to-mud spell, it would be pretty easy to bring down the town. Unless its been changed in 3e, the stone to mud effected a certain volume of stone. Create a paper-thin sheet of mud between the "roof" of the city and the rock supporting it. Boom.

08-05-03, 01:36 PM Hrm, I believe this is what happened to the Great Rift. A titanic battle or somesuch caused the entire roof of a large portion of the Underdark to cave in, creating what is now known as the Great Rift. I forget who the participants in said battle were, however, and I could be forgetting something.

08-05-03, 03:52 PM Easier way to get rid of Menzoberranzan... get a beholder, make it use its disintegrate eye until it reaches a river... and watch Menzoberranzan get flooded *sobs* beautiful... and sweet

Go to Menzoberranzan then start calling out to Talos, calling him a powerless wuss who can't even destroy a city just to kill you. Feel free to add other insults.
