| Prince Indirian08-04-03, 10:27 PM | I often wonder how the elves, especially the sun elves would treat a good male cleric of Correllon. I strongly doubt that they will kill. Maybe the think that his using some profane magic to which makes it possible to act as if one was a Cleric of Correllon. And yes it is possible for a drow to be cleric of Correllon. There are records of that as far as I know And don't come and argue with me how you feel about people playing good-aligned dark elves, there are other threads that discuss that so teleport your uber-biased thoughts there, you mega bigots. I hope I'm being to rude and please don't be angry or insulted it only that I'm RATHER tired hearing all these bigots saying Stu....things like it 's ubermunchkin to play good drow, or that all drow should be played evil. Playing drow is just like when people were playing elves all the time but does mean that one should be "called" munchkin. well I hope this helps If you are going to post please avoid saying stuff like that if it doesn't relate to the topic. Maybe I'm going to start an new one among the countless out there The reason I choose Correllon is quite obvious, he was the that banished them if forgíves on then why should't "we" (the elves) do the same, are better than the The Seldarine. forgiving doesn't mean trusting. But also if you are born by good parents raised by a male in particular whom also know the cruelty of females ( girls and women can be really cruel if the want to, no offense I love girls) may be a little reluctant to worshiping a certain naked good-aligned drow deity. And also I think that drow are more suited for Correllon than the other elves. Why well they are warlike and I see Correlloon first and foremost as War deity, he did kick Gruumsh ***. The Story of how he became a cleric are quite numerous and if you want ti write down just ask. I like the scenario of the final battle between a male drow cleric of Correllon versus a female drow cleric of Lloth preferbly in Epic style:D As a another guy on the boards said once It has begun :smirk: And if you want to know more check this thread The reason why good drow are so good for Forgotten realms (http://archivedboards.wizards.com/rpg-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=152;t=005 327) |
| Gotrex08-05-03, 10:09 AM | quite simple really they will put a sword through your chest on sight :) same goes for almost everyone else in the realms - not just elves |
| Jeiroth08-05-03, 10:34 AM | <you hear a faint shimmer as I teleport in uber-biased thoughts> quite simple really they will put a sword through your chest on sight same goes for almost everyone else in the realms - not just elves No no Gotrex you got it all wrong, they will put an arrow into his chest, not a sword. Then laugh and call him a munchkin. :smirk: <teleport's uber-biased thoughts out> |
| Gotrex08-05-03, 10:50 AM | btw were are these records of correlon accepting drow clerics? i find it really hard to belive he would ever accept a drow |

If Ramon Arjona can draft a Duergar cleric of Moradin for the Realms Personalities section, then this guy can draft a Drow cleric of Corellon Larethian for his own game. Thordek Stonebreaker, Duergar Cleric of Moradin (http://wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=fr/fx20020911rp) I wouldn't have done it, but it's not my game. Back on topic, your Drow cleric will be the Dark Elf version of ol' Thordek. Be prepared to be on the receiving end of lots of animosity. |
| Mr. Domino08-05-03, 12:32 PM | I can only agree. Big C has a Zero Tolerance policy towards Drow or anything else that does not fit his shoe. His daughter I assume you have left out of the shoe-fitting equation. |
| Gemini08-05-03, 12:41 PM | It would depend on if the Drow lived long enough to show he was a cleric of C. Showing the symbol wouldn't be enough... There are plenty of Drow cities devoted to Illustrae, who is a good goddess. These cities are, IMC, recognized by the "normal" elvin communities. If your cleric was from one of these cities, and wore their standards, he would at least have a chance to prove himself before being attacked. |
| Prince Indirian08-05-03, 12:49 PM | Seriously how many of you are serious now, I'm not joking and could please post on the tread so I can discard this one Read why good drow are so good. The first page only. We have actually discussed a similiar question once before came to the conclusion that Correllon issues was with LlOTH and Vhaerun, not the drow elves, as it was she whom corrupted them, read Faith and Pantheons and you learn that Correllon "gave" her the dark elves. The fact that he could give it a way like that can actually mean that he was once their patron. If you don't understand tell me rather than being ignorant and yes there is nothing wrong to be ignorant Now let's move to the other thread with the same name or maybe you'll like to continue on this one |

| Gotrex08-05-03, 01:04 PM | yeh i stand corrected on the drow cleric thing :) but i wasnt joking about everyone trying to kill you 99.9% of drow are evil 99.9% of people on faerun will not take the chance to find out your good and will just try to kill you elves and drow(the normal drow dont want good drow running around) will be especialy bad and may activly hunt you should they find out about you though this is what makes playing a good drow fun its exciting being on the run - its a good challenge |
| Tzalice Minoladir08-05-03, 02:37 PM | okay, yes, correllon DOES have a few half-drow children with lolth. That was before the fall when lolth was arashnee, and correllon's lovely lil' consort. Correllon's not the best dad to his wayward (drow) children unfortunately, with the possible exception of elistraee. I'd say that most elves would prolly not be too trusting even if they didn't attack on sight. It's not saying "oh, drow should be played evil" It's saying "people know drow=evil." They're kinda shoot first, ask questions later types. I mean, and I can't believe I'm doing this, but I have read the drizzt books. Look at the one where he leaves the underdark and the party's tracking him down. They don't ask questions (except for that one ranger who's like "that's odd" and then gets killed.) I'd say, they probably wouldn't believe him and would hold him for questioning. That and correllon's a little not pleased with the drow since that whole fall thing. As for a dreugar cleric of Moraddin, LG and LE aren't as different as CG and CE. really they aren't, scarily. |

No good-aligned creauture SHOULD do it. Why? Well you are not sure if the dark elf is evil or not. And if he's good then you had just attacked an innocent person because of your bad judgement. It's similiar to attacking an commoner and saying that he COULD have been evil. Dragon Magazine had an issue about this in 206 an according to them it was all about racism. Just because most dark elves are doesn't that mean that you can judge all of them. Even though you maybe should. It's like saying that all Germans are nazis when in fact only very small part. The elves decandent by the way. As far as I know racism is evil and and those who are appliying are......? I hope nobody's insulted by the most and my sincere apologies if someone is insulted. There are several factions that wouldn't do it such as Selunites, Tormites, Tyrrans, Lathanderians (or what you call them), helmites and many more. Only stupid and ignorant human commoners and their likes and soldiers would do something like that. Also there is a way to determine if someone is evil or not. Nearly everyone know that there is magic items that can hide you alignment. What you is this 1. Go to your local order and if you lack then go to your lical mageorder or Temple 2.Now try to contact a Paladin with telapathy if lack paladin order and Lawful Good church. Otherwise ask them if they can aid important drow issue 3. Then tell the Paladins to SMITE the Drow and if his evil then WE all know what will happen to him. He will take a s***load of damage from the Seniors. 4.If he's good then you should lock your prejudices in treasure chest adn take them out when you need them. :D Actually even if he's evil you shouldn't kill him as he probably not done anything evil YET. But probably he dead after he has ben smiten by several senior Paladins And Sirius Black I have to thank you again, even though I partially knew were the source was from, but thanks really Yours Sincerely Prince Indirian And also their are probably 2000 good drow which is about 0.2% of all drow. OK I made that upp |

| Gotrex08-05-03, 03:41 PM | your right people might kill inocents but most people are not going to risk there life finding out if a drow enters your village you have 2 choices trust him - 1% chance that no one in your village will be hurt 99% chance the drow will kill or steal or somthing kill him on sight - 0% chance of anything bad happening which option do you recon most people are gonna choose? people in the realms aint like people in modern society, they are quite willing to kill people of an evil race without giving it a chance for fear of there own lives just like there may be a deamon from the abyss somewere that for some reason is neutral/good but you can bet if a deamon comes into a town is going to get attacked and there is no difference between a deamon and a drow as far as the average faerunian is concerned and your right there are probably quite a few drow born with good tendancies but only about 1% of those survive they will either have there good tendancies beaten out of them or taught out of them or they will be killed by there parents thats just the way the drow work |
| Cthulhu08-05-03, 04:08 PM | Any elves that run into a drow cleric of Correllon are going to see a drow first, and a cleric second. The drow is going to have to do some fast talking to get a chance. This is really no different than an orc trying to live among humans, or any other example you can think of. As far as Correllon himself...he's the creator god of ALL the elves, even if some deny him right now. He owes any drow attempting to return to the fold (as his cleric no less!) a chance since it was HIS pantheon that screwed up and caused the Fall. Correllon, being CG, will tend to judge each individual by his or her own merits. |

| Safti08-08-03, 02:16 AM | Sun elves are pretty elitist [generally] as it is; drop a drow in front of them and they're liable to get pretty ticked - even if the drow is good and a cleric to a god they call their own. They will probably disbelieve his story, and possibly even believe that that he has "convinced" his fellow templars/clerics to treat him as one of them; if the Sun elves have a cleric amongst them, a [i]zone of truth would probably be shot up, not to mention arcane sight, any number of dispellings, and just about any way possible to negate any "sway" the drow may have over the others. If not encountered in a temple or with someone who can vouch for him, he'd better have some darned good proof that he is what he says he is. Maybe some handy undead to turn? *grins* To reiterate what's been said: Corellon accepting such a drow is not at all out of the question. Another reiteration is that the drow will have to talk quickly as those looking at him will go "Drow=evil" because that's just the way Faerun works. |
| Sothran of Waterdeep08-08-03, 03:41 AM | my thoughts.... (short as they are) in this case: commoners donīt just see a drow, the see a DROW CLERIC! come on, you know of a more evil group in the realms? ya think they will look at which god the cleric follows? i donīt think so.... and yes they should call the local paladin etc... to do the good thing. but most commoners just wont take the chance, reason being: it takes time, time which would be spent in the company of a drow cleric. get the pic? if their suspicion is true they would send away part of their forces (most people in the realms donīt have telepathy or magic means to call someone but have to physicaly go to the place) and then they would be in a worse place to defend themselfs. itīs down to survival (which sort of justifies the end, the greater good...) good drow: well there is one who just is starting to get a rep (drizzt) in northen faerun. (if i remember right... yup: p.178 FRSB last sentence of the drizzt section: "His deeds have, very slowly, made Drizzt DoÚrden more welcome in the Sword Coast") he isnīt well known all over faerun and most people havnīt heard of him. so why would a commoner feel inclined to trust a Drow? cuz of Drizzt? nope... cuz of their rep? well... you all know their rep. playing a good drow really is a challange, and one that would be interesting (no question about that) BUT one part of that challange would be just what this thread is all about: the fact that noone trust you! well thatīs my two coppers ladies and gentlemen... |
| Gotrex08-08-03, 10:10 AM | "To bad 89.99% of the people in Faerun are sheep herders and farmers. while 99.99% of the drow they encounter will be substantially more skilled in the martial arts" firstly you should note the word "try" in my sentance :) but yeh i should rephrase 99.9% of people will get the local authorities and then kill the drow |

In theory, though, they may recognise - depending on what they actually know about drow society, and if they're worried about the clerics, they may well know this - that male drow who follow Lloth are NEVER her clerics. So suspicion may abound, but killing him right off the bat might be a little hasty. Elven commoners would be, I assume, reasonably well-versed in the habits of Lloth, and her treatment of men would probably be well-known [because afterall, her hatred of men and desire to make them subservient stems from her opinion of Corellon]; it's not a huge step, then, to the knowledge that her clerics are always female. |

| Charles Phipps08-09-03, 02:00 PM | No offense but I always saw Corellon Lantheon as above such petty things as hatred. Corellon doesn't even hate Gruumsh for crying out loud and has in Oerth had a recorded Orcish cleric of his race. Corellon probably wouldn't have a problem with a Drow cleric at all Probably wouldn't give it a second thought. If you asked him he'd probably ask "Why?" If you answered "Because the Drow betrayed you." "Lolth betrayed me and all the Drow who follow her betray me. He has not." Anyone who says otherwise I think isn't giving the Cor man's character enough credit |

(BTW ... given the rules and all that, the peasants will never hit the drow once he had the time to cast a handfull of spells. And unless he's a low level madhead, he wouldn't walk the realms above alone anyway. Speaking of Realms ... you should be off to the Drow campaign, shouldn't you?) |

Mystra is an interfering git who lets her passions run in the way of her good sense Sune is more concerned about herself than her followers sometimes, Sharess doubly so Lathander in my games is so obsessed with destroying evil that he fails to see its place in the balance of power on Faerun but one of my favorite aspects to Corellon has always been he seemed to be an amazingly forgiving and accepting guy whose most ironic fact is he doesn't care about elven blood whatsoever but the elven ideals His followers having completely twisted that and Corelleon so laid back its merely a point of bemusement with him rather than something he's honestly angry about It was a nice twist in my games the players had as opposed to having all the gods self centered vain weirdos Or completely reflecting their clergy (and vice versa) |
| Cthulhu08-09-03, 04:30 PM | Ironically, it's probably Correllons laid back nature which indirectly helped the elves toward the Fall. He didn't watchdog his pantheon or its activities enough preferring to trust his consorts faith and honesty. Lolth felt empowered by this "Hey Dude!" attitude and struck out on her own condemning 10's of thousands of elven souls to the Abyss. Correllons failure isn't that he didn't care, but that he didn't care enough. |

| Cthulhu08-09-03, 05:01 PM | I may have to amend my earlier statement a bit. I really don't think that Correllon is as laid back as he might seem to a casual observer. He's not just a god of elves or battle craft or magic hes a god of Excellence. He's the all around renaissance man of the divine world. That implies drive and dedication in every aspect of his life. He's not a slacker. I don't see him approaching leadership with any less dedication. The reason he appears so is that he is also stereotypically elven (of course!:D ) in the way he approaches problems. Take your time and make sure its done right the FIRST time. Study a problem as long as you need to, but than act in a decisive manner. The drow problem has been one that he's been working on in the elven fashion. His probable goal is the reabsorbtion of the drow community back into the mainstream elven fold. Its just taking time as seen from an elven perspective (and a divine one for that matter). The solution will probably be enacted in a hard decisive manner when its time. |

| Cthulhu08-09-03, 06:15 PM | Players Handbook 3.5 page 106: "He governs those things held in highest esteem among elves, such as magic, music, arts, crafts, poetry, and warfare." Does this sound like someone who is a slacker? He is also called the Protector and Ruler of All Elves. That means he considers the ideals of leadership important. Losing a substantial portion of his race to a rebel goddess has to irk him to no end. He's an elf with an elf's point of view (can you logically expect anything else from the Creator of the elves?). As far as the "bigots"...who cares? This is my interpretation of Correllons character and a damn sight more logical than some I have seen. None of those bigots are going to be playing at my table, so why worry if some retard decides to take offense at my opinion? Now if someone offers a reasonable counter to my opinion than I might rethink it. 'Nuff said. |

| Wizardman08-09-03, 07:37 PM | I don't think Corellon is 'laid back' as such. Like Charles Phipps, I see Corellon as incredibly accepting (which is why he is chaotic instead of lawful). He also seems to trust until he has reason not to- see Araushnee/Lolth as proof of that. The fact that he is so accepting and trusting is one reason why the one-step alignment rule for his clerics doesn't really make sense, but that is a rant for another topic and another time. Corellon isn't the 'compelling' type. He doesn't force his will on others unless/until it becomes absolutely necessary- ie. exiling Lolth and Vhaeraun. He trusts his children to do the right thing. If a drow truly wished to re-enter the fold, as it were, that drow would be accepted immediately. Now, as to whether or not other elves would accept him or her, well, Corellon would leave that to them. He won't be pleased if they make the wrong decision, but he won't try to compel or control them. His is a different style of leadership than, say, Moradin's, who seems a bit more controlling. Lest anyone think I'm bashing the Soul-Forger, it is worth noting that even the disfavoured branches of the Morndinsamman are still part of the pantheon- censured, disfavoured, and disliked members oh yes, but members nonetheless. They balance each other out. Back to the main point: Yes, Corellon will have anyone as a cleric who can be and wants to be. That doesn't mean that the elves will necessarily accept said cleric- although if any angry elves actually somehow contacted Corellon and asked, he would tell them and express his favour of the cleric (and the shock just might kill the elves who are asking!). |

Take a good look at his listed portfolios. They follow almost word for word the quote from the PHB. Truthfully the F&P description just expands on and makes compatible with FR Correllons character. It doesn't just replace it. |

Actually I haven't disagreed at single point yet....:D , but I have questioned some of your points wondering if you had some references. And I knew that he was goverved all of those things. And also he WAS probably slightly laid back before the Descent. Why ? Well things were going kind of good until Lloth and her friends tried do a coup'd'etat. Even though he is deity of war, art, magic and craft doesn't have to mean that he can't be laid back at times. Don't forget his chaotic goodness and the fact that he is a elf. Some are seriuos others are not and Correllon is probably a little of both. Although he'sprobably more serious now than before. He is not a Tyrant as far as I know The reason I lthink he seems cool is that he doesn't seem to be cool is that he seems to judge people out of character rather than by apperance or something like that |
