Magic and elves and dwarves exsist. I think it would be fair to say other things don't work like they did/do IRL.

2. A POUND of soap is 1sp/Elaboration on a point made by The 'Liss (ties into point 1)

If you think about just how much soap is in a pound, you realize that even the poorest families can afford soap. Not just to wash clothes, but to probably bathe. And a pound of soap would last an adventuring party of up to six members about 2 weeks (possibly more than that, since i have never personally had to adventure with 5 other people and had to split a pound of soap between the six of us).

So, things in the Realms are [apparently] different.
